Technically a remake of a novel adaptation, one of the greatest horror movies ever. Isolation, the dark, the unknown, paranoia, tentacled terrors out of space and time, legendary Lovecraftian body horror. Tragedy in the opening minutes.
Humanity tragically loses.
Mirrored destruction continuing the cycle.
The most inspiring monster in cinema.

Nope nope nope, but great critique!
You had me at body horror. I'm definitely watching this!
Really, better than Alien? And better than Aliens, as well? 😮
I used to watch that with my dad when I was a kid, good times. The part with the dog was what really got me. But I watched the movie it over and over... You do it justice, a shivery chilling and concise critique! 🐧🐧🐧🐧: Giant penguins from the Mountains of Madness.
Better than...? Hmm...
I remember this movie rattled my brain as a kid. It left an impact great enough that I had to see it again the following week. Great review, my friend.
I like that your subtitles for both this and the Alien one are at war, and so they should be. The Thing and Alien are equally the best of their kind. Considering how old both films are...they still hold up to scrutiny very well. I always loved The Thing, was a huge fan of Carpenter and Kurt Russell anyway, but the idea of a shapeshifting alien, scared the hell out of me. Awesome critique!
This movie scratched all the horror checkboxes! Agreed. Isolation, paranoia, the unknown. Perfect encapsulation of the movie!
