'The Lively Art of Writing' A book on composition by Lucile Vaughan Payne. This is an academic book that I have seen read by students when I was in high school who had taken either a course known back then as Advanced Communcations or Honors English. This book was published back in 1975 when I was in upper elementary school and even though it is an older text there are a lot of exercises that can still help writers today.
This is a book that will walk you step-by-step through the writing of your first term paper or any other kind of paper or report that one needs to prepare and write. The way to cite references, making bibliography cards and even note cards. The rule in this area always seems to change over the years, but basically, they do stay the same except it seems certain punctuation marks change places it seems when creating footnotes or a bibliography page. The text teaches about the sound and structure of how a paper should be like to be presentable to a particular audience.
Even in today's society of computers and Mat CAT (Materials Catalog or in old-fashioned terms Card Catalogue) in the libraries. The basic idea of doing research and writing the paper is the same one must of a good grasp of the English language with all its' rules and exceptions with grammar, punctuation, and spelling for even the computer can make a mistake too. Like in the paragraph before this one with the word 'rule' I wanted 'rules' but the computer says it is wrong, but I think it sounds better with the word 'rules'. Well, in conclusion, remember Charlie Brown and his days at the Spelling Bee 'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.

I'm sure this book would still largely aid and apply to all students' needs.
