What does or did the summer season mean to you? In a series of very short articles 'Before You Go' how many of you were able just to relax and enjoy the season. As a child I remember playing all sorts of games, riding my bike and looking forward to the family reunion. As an adult it just seems like any other season except it is very hot and humid in the Deep South and cannot do very much at least for me I was a Northerner most of my life and it was just too darn humid for me.

As a child growing up in the Deep South and in a coastal city, we always went to the beach at least three or four times a week during the summer. It was wonderful, since after all, the beach is the best place to be in the heat of a southern summer. As a child I also remember watching the tar bubble up on the tar lined streets of yesteryear, too, because it would get so unbearably hot. As kids, we'd touch the hot tar with sticks.
