PICK ME

The glorification of a type of woman over another

By PA Jayashree KrishnaPublished about a year ago 2 min read
The real pick me

PICK ME

If I genuinely love video games

Have pictures with guy friends on frames

I become a pick-me

If I dress like a tomboy

Immune to flirting becoming coy

I become a pick-me

I never put any girls down

Recitent because for them I am a clown

I become a pick-me

It takes a lot more than just talking

To be good friends the road of common interests is where the walking

I become a pick-me

If I genuinely feel insecure

I am fishing for compliments not demure

I become a pick-me

Let's stop this cycle and redefine the term

As a girl who puts other girls down to get to his sperm

Who are you to say how a man or a woman should be

When you can't even earn a single rupee

Who are you to say how a woman to behave

She is the one to decide which path to pave

Let a woman be however she wants

Until somebody she harms and taunts

Directly or Indirectly if you are not harmed

Mind your own business this distraction is alarmed

This applies to both genders

Together let's solve these blunders

My name is PA Jayashree Krishna I live in India Tamil Nadu

I just wanted to write a poem on how I was labeled a pick me for genuinely being so unabashed and loving video games.

I did not like how the clothes for women that are generally made are way shorter the arm hems of the clothes are so tight so I shop in the male section.

I was not behaving femininely enough for people who didn't even bother to know what that meant.

God knows how frustrating that is with women in similar situations. I do feel insecure and I complain about it to my friends and I am fishing for compliments it is just too much to take.

Men on social media glorify their ideal type I mean it is ok to have preferences and knowing what you are attracted to is good but glorifying that one type over the other brings other women down.

They will not feel good enough no matter what pleasing this men who are diabolical

Makes the women change their bodies, minds, thinking, and way of speaking illogical

This applies to both men and women

Don't fight with both genders amen

Pick me boys or Pick me girls

Don't go behind the opposite gender in twirls

You are not ugly you don't need validation

Seeking their approval is self-depreciation

No need to put others of your gender to feel better about yourself

We are human above no one everyone's unique in this universe we not even an elf

No one is special by putting others down

Because nobody likes being made to frown

You are special by lifting others up

Never forget that in your memory cup

People and their types are weird

Never let in them in your mind this geared

Appealing to the opposite gender does not define your worth

Don't make your life around them focus on yourself up forth

Important. Tomboy girls are actually really dope, I was as a child which was half a tomboy, half girly. I still feel that way. I love the rhymes at the end of the poem. That's a very cool poem 🪷
