What to do About Afghan Asylum Seekers and ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy?
The topics of those that seek asylum in the United States, those that come as refugees and the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy are matters that need to be resolved. I am of the opinion that allowing asylum seekers to enter the United States can cause more harm than good but there should be considerations taken for certain circumstances. When it comes to refugees from Afghanistan who assisted our armed forces, we made them a promise and we need to keep it. These two topics are very different and have different underlying circumstances.

A Wet World Run on Cow Dung
From reading the articles “As a warming climate delivers more rain…” (Sellers, 2020) and “As the Livestock Industry Touts Manure-to-Energy Projects…” (Gustin, 2020) I found a great deal of information given about industry and municipalities when it comes to how they are managing their waste. The articles give an insight into how they approach initiatives to attempt to make their production of waste appear to be more echo-friendly. The pork industry for example is working with public utility companies to create bio-gas which sounds like a good alternative to all the undesirable pollution but is proven it is not. The city of Philadelphia is working closely with the EPA to try and find ways to reduce the contamination they create using technological initiatives and this seems to be more promising. Through these readings I have learned that industry has found ways to keep up appearances of being green in some instances while entire cities are taking initiatives to actually tackle the problem. Climate change is a legitimate issue we all have to face and industry can not be allowed to continue to ignore it.

Spoken Languages and State Relationships in Egypt
Egypt dates back to ancient times and is a land of contrast and diversity. The culture is rich with history and has influenced as well as adapted with other cultures from the region. The official language of Egypt is Literary Arabic and the majority of the people speak Egyptian Arabic with the second most popular language being Sa’idi Arabic. Essentially both languages are built on the same dialect however the only language recognized as official by the Egyptian government is Literary Arabic.

Equality and Inclusion is not a Modern Concept
Antebellum slavery and emancipation were not only a popular topic in its era but one that divided the country. While the ideals of emancipation were more widely accepted in the North the majority of the South was against the idea. The accounts of primary sources give detailed insight about the opinions from both sides. At the time a variety of ideas were proposed and debated to orchestrate the changes that emancipation would bring across the United States. Although they had their indifferences, both sides did agree on one point. The prejudice views of White Americans combined with the memories that those were with slaves had from generations of mistreatment could not be abolished by simply passing new laws and granting rights. Before emancipation it was understood that a change in culture would be required in order to make the transition work. Although we now view this as a modern approach that simply is not the case. The need for cultural change in the United States has been known and understood since the concept of emancipation was conceived.

African American Literature Tradition
The African ‘American’ tradition in literature began before the Revolutionary War period. As the name of the tradition suggests it involved African-American writers who created writings that were not only creative and expressive but also offer social insight into the time period and shine light on American history and the people involved in it using the perspective of a culture who was persecuted and considered a lessor part of the human species at the time. This makes the African-American tradition similar to that of the Ancient Attica tradition which also provides us with social insight as to what was happening at the time it was written and is considered to be of the highest quality.

Analysis of Washington A.R.T. Training
The Washington Aggression Replacement Training or ART is a program available to juveniles in or in proximity to most communities in Washington state. ART has been put into place to attempt to combat the serious, increasing problem of aggressive behavior in children across the state (DCYF, 2016). The goal of ART is to give guidance and assistance to youth to reduce anti-social behavior and give them prosocial life skills (DCYF, 2016). The use of ART initially was proven through research to have positive outcomes, however recent studies show that is no longer the case.

Analysis of My Fathers Coat by Marc Kelly Smith
Marc Kelly Smith is an American writer with an interesting style that he applies to spoken word poetry. His poem titled “My Fathers Coat” uses the literary devices of repetition, apostrophe, conceit, tempo and line breaks to convey its meaning and mood. The poem has a dark and unsettling feeling to it and is a great example of how the writer of spoken word can use the form of the poem combined with delivery to convey their perspective and feelings to the audience. Smith often states that he does not like his father and he has passed away, even though he is wearing his coat. This makes the theme that Smith is living life as his father had.

While I could not predict every detail in the plot twists, I certainly could predict in general what would happen with a very high frequency. For example, I knew right away what *kind* of secrets Xaden was keeping as soon as the fact that he was keeping those secrets was mentioned and I was right, however of course the specifics of the secret I did not know and no, I cannot say more without a spoiler.
