The man is a genius, his lecture series is one of the most important resources ever developed for writers, and I’m yet to pick up a Sando that’s scored below a 70. I have critiques that we’ll come to, but suffice to say I am a big supporter of Sanderson.

It starts with love.. The Power to the God Of War and Wealth Walk into a Chinese restaurant (even in Oklahoma, USA), a Chinese police station, a kung fu martial arts studio or even a Chinese temple and you often see a red faced warrior holding a heavy quan-do (spear like weapon).

I admit that I’ve never read the book. Based on your critique, I probably should. I also admit that I enjoy a sexy vampire once in a while (Excluding the twilight variety). Very compelling critique! 🦇
Interesting! Films tend to change some books and lose the plot entirely.
My first introduction to this story as a young person was the exact opposite of your take. It was also wrong. Except, I suppose, insofar as romance DOES often portray unhealthy/toxic/abusive relationships 🤷♀️

Love this book! I read it for the first time in Fourth year university and it was an amazing experience! The ending left something to be desired for me, the only place I could imagine an adaptation helping at all. But I've never seen a good, or even decent crack at bringing it to the big screen and am actively dreading the "Last Voyage of the Demeter" coming out soon. Like, it looks as though it's completely missed every possible point.
