I know I have mentioned this before in various formats, but I liked it when there was a most supportive commentor on the leaderboard. I know and agree with why it is no longer around, but for me that was a way of really thinking out an appropriate comment for all the stories, articles and poems that I read, and getting paid for them in a way was great for it gave me a way to use my teaching skills in a way. At times now I wish Vocal could bring back that category, and they could stipulate new rules.

I often wondered if the comments were genuine, or just inspired by money. Sometimes I still am, when I have no time to read/engage due to work and notice that I didn't gain a single read in a week. I wonder if people comment because they want me to comment back or...? Is everyone just busy int he same time? But I guess no, cos others receive TS's with the same people commenting for them. So in one way, it's good they removed it but in another, I agree with you. It was better before, at least there was something.

A lot of people depended on it, it helped both the commentor and the commentee. But as things go, it got out of hand. As Mike says, those who commented with emojis and hearts, not words, were reaping the rewards. I now see people subscribing to me without even reading a story, or just drop a heart with no comment. I question if they even read the story they hearted. Reads are drastically down. for most. We just need to forge new bonds with those who read and comment. Its a dog eat dog world. But be of good courage. Changes will appear...hopefully.

It did make me sad to see it go. I saw you appear on it a couple times. So it was a way to support those who may not be in the numbers when it came to their stories, as the competition is quite fierce. But then Cathy and Mike raised something that was also important. That people shouldn’t be commenting for rewards. Maybe there’s a way to still include this, but with comments that are paragraphs instead of a single line. Not one word like Mike mentioned. ♥️🤗

  • Some of the comments on mine deserve to be rewarded as they are informative and show that the reader has read the piece, and often add to it. However, Voca didn't differentiate between that and someone saying "Wow" or some other one-word comment. We shouldn't be commenting for reward; we should be commenting to support the creator. Some good observations.

  • It did seem to be a great incentive forthe community to engage. Since it was removed, people don't comment as much as they used to.
