You're dead but we are still growing your baby
The real story of Adriana Smith

Disclaimer: I'm in no way shape or form trying to tell this story only in a entertainment point of view. This is a real story, that affected real people and my aim is only to share what's happening.
Hello, hello,
Picture this, your girlfriend is expecting and you are counting the days to meet your child. One day she starts complaining about a headache, you suggest that maybe she should drink some more water, or that she needs to lay down. She disagrees, she says that this headcahe is different and wants to go to the hospital. She's the nurse of the house so off to the hospital you go.
There, she asks for a ct scan, explains that she is a nurse and that this headache isn't like the other she is used to have. The doctor sens her home with some pain pills and no scan.
During the night a strange noise wakes you up. You look to to your side and your girlfriend is choking. You and her speed to the hospital. There you discover that the headache that she was feeling wasn't because she was tired, or because she needed to drink more water. She had brain clots in her brain, and is rushed to an emergency surgery.
The surgery couldn't save her and she is declared brain dead. However, the doctors tell you that, yes, she is dead but she will be kept on life support. Confusion, why? According to state laws on abortion, because the doctors can still find the baby heartbeat they are obligged to keep the mother "alive" so that the baby can grow. At the time of her death, Adriana Smith, was pregnant for eight weeks and kept alive during 90 days. At 22 weeks she "gave birth" and can finally rest.
The controversy
When I stumbled upon this case I was shocked. After some research this is what I gathered.
The family says that they don't know if given the chance they would also want to keep Adriana in life support. The problem was that they didn't have the choice, they kept visiting Adriana looking at her "breathing" knowing that she was gone. She has a boy, eight years old, from another relationship that is confused, is mom is dead they say, but they still go see her in the hospital and in there she looks like she is sleeping.
The baby, even in the beggining had the possibility of being born blind, unable to walg and with another array of problems that will taint his development. There is also the possibility that he wouldn't survive.
A week ago baby Chance is born. He is being kept in the neonatal care. We don't have more news about is condition.
What the public says
There is a discussion about the ethics of the sitution. Adriana can't consent and her family, her next of kin also can't consent to terminate the pregnancy or even to keep it. Some say that in reality, Adriana is being used as a guinea pig, to see how long the body of a woman can handle.
Some netizens (people on the internet) say that the reason the baby had to be deliver via an urgent c-section was because Adriana's body was decaying. I couldn't find that information in any news outlets, I also couldn't find any news about the baby not moving all this time during this last weeks.
What I think
I'm appaled. This is the reason why we always need to be informed about the laws that are made about reproductive rights. It might look innocent but then situations like this happen and we start wondering, how much control over our own bodies do we really have? This law, was put in motion in 2022. You do the math what that overlaps with.
I'm sending positive energy to Adriana's family, I hope they can know finally rest and grieve.
