According to YNW Melly's lawyers, they're now seeking his release from prison, where they allege that he's being held under harsh conditions.

YNW Melly’s had a long and arduous road. Does he deserve it? That’s for a jury to decide January of 2027. Meanwhile, he scored a huge legal win when one of his charges got dropped. Related to witness tampering where he allegedly told his girlfriend not to participate in the case, he got the charge dropped ahead of the upcoming trial.

His lawyers also argued that his lyrics had nothing to do with this case. In the past, the total omission of all words for a song should be dismissed. Now, some lyrics relevant to the case should be admitted to the proceedings. YNW has been imprisoned for over six hundred days. And the conditions don’t seem to be rather accommodating. The attorneys hold that he is being kept in squalid conditions and not receiving the proper care they’d like to see him get.

With the charge dropped, however, he should feel a boost of humanity well up in him. As a person being confined to a cell and not being able to be let out, he must sense some modicum of relief. Now, his legal counsel wants him out of prison altogether. His capacity to see his life anew suggests that he is combining his efforts to be a better person and his role as an individual against the State shows he still has fight in him.

If he is in fact found guilty of the murder charges stemming from reportedly killing two former friends, then let that stand. Let it be a reminder to the people in his life that was wrong and justice was served.

Justice can also be served if he is acquitted on all charges. There will be ample time for him to think about it these next twelve months. That is if his lawyers push for him to be released from prison and he can think about all of this on house arrest.

This case just seems like a baby Diddy case. It’s not quite the “Trial of the Century” but it does hint at some of the similar tropes. Both men are FBA, both men were denied bond, and both are entertainers. The difference is YNW is facing a double homicide. This particular set of events is different from Diddy’s, of course.

The role that YNW is playing far outweighs the tribulations of the disgraced music mogul. What YNW has to say is that all of the pieces must fit the puzzle or the entire picture may not be seen. He is struggling, fighting for any sense of grace and dignity.

The Florida native whose real name is Jamell Demons is determined to show that he is innocent. And technically, he is innocent until proven guilty by a jury of his peers in a court of law. The powerful statement he is making to everyone is that he is supposed to breathe the sweet air of freedom once more. Now, back to his lyrics. This is such a clear violation of freedom of speech…in context. He might have recorded “Murder on my Mind” but that doesn’t match the time frame of the homicides. Allowing lyrics should all be made clear if there is an obvious, without a shadow of doubt, way that the lyrics correspond with the alleged crimes.

Anything can go up for inspection. Poems, screenplays, novels…the list goes on and on until it becomes ridiculous. It’s in the minds of the jury and judge to state whether the lyrics are even worthy of inspection or not. In cases like this, the prosecution will more often than not like to point to the idea that “murder” is in the lyrics.

It doesn’t matter and until that day where only pertinent lyrics exist, may justice only relate to YNW.
