What Really Happened - Lady Who Was Tied Up in Hotel Speaks Out

The victim and suspect are narrating what happened

By Jide OkonjoPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Earlier this week, a video went viral showing a woman in a hotel room who had been bound and stripped naked of her clothes after a man she had come to the hotel with left her in that state. Since then, there has been a lot of speculation about what really happened in that room. But now, after the suspect has been apprehended, both the victim (the woman) and the suspect (the man) are sharing what really happened in that fateful hotel room. Here's what they said.

THE VICTIM'S SIDE OF THE STORY

Speaking about what happened to her, the victim said:

THE VICTIM: I met the suspect some months ago. I live in Enugu but visit Abuja for other business reasons. When I got to the hotel, the suspect asked me whether I feared death. He said if I cooperate with him he will not hurt me like other girls. He said his friend was outside and if I made any wrong move, he injected me with something. I pleaded with him, he slapped me and asked me to strip my clothes. I tried to get to the door but it was locked by him and he held the keys.

He removed my clothes when I tried running to the door, he locked the door and removed the key. He turned the television volume very high and blocked my mouth with a handkerchief. He warned me not to make noise that he was stepping out then locked me in the room. I later noticed a movement outside the door and saw the color of the uniform the person wore is that of the hotel staff.

I struggled and dragged myself to the window then started banging it, luckily the guy heard me at which I immediately gave him a sign to run after the person that just left the room which he did then he was caught

THE SUSPECT'S SIDE OF THE STORY

Speaking about why he did this horrible act, the suspect, a 30 year old man by the name of Joseph Efe told police that he is a thief, and not a ritual killer. He said that his intention was to steal the cellphone of the lady who he identified as a commercial sex worker, and not to kill her for ritual. According to Efe, he had already stolen from four victims in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja; and claims that he was committing the crime to raise money for his sister who has sickle cell anemia. Further speaking, the suspect said:

THE SUSPECT: I tied her so that she would not run after me as I fled. I told her to take off her clothes so that even if she is able to untie herself, before she puts on her clothes I will be long gone.

But he was indeed not long gone, and has thankfully been apprehended and taken to police custody. This woman is so lucky her life was saved, and that this didn't end a lot worse. Hopefully, justice will be served in this matter, and this serves as a cautionary tale for all those trying to extort, kill, or steal from people; as well as a cautionary tale to be very vigilant in who we are meeting.
