**Unsolved: The Disappearance of Jackie Boyer**

In the small, quiet town of Ridgewood, Jackie Boyer was a name everyone knew. A bright, ten-year-old with wild curls and a curious smile, Jackie spent most of his days exploring the woods behind his family’s old farmhouse. The town folks joked he was born with a compass in his hand, always finding secret trails and hidden streams. But on a chilly autumn afternoon in 1996, Jackie Boyer vanished, and Ridgewood was never the same.

It was a Saturday, October 12th. Jackie told his mother he was heading into the woods, as he often did, to look for frogs near Crescent Creek. “Be back by dinner,” she reminded him. Jackie waved and darted off, his favorite blue backpack bouncing against his small frame. That was the last time anyone saw him.

When Jackie didn’t return by dusk, his mother assumed he had lost track of time. She called his name from the porch, her voice cutting through the still air. But there was no response. Panic set in, and soon, the entire town was out in the woods, flashlights sweeping through the trees, calling for the boy who always found his way home. But Jackie had vanished without a trace.

The police scoured the area for days. Search dogs picked up Jackie’s scent near Crescent Creek, but it stopped abruptly at a clearing, as if he had simply disappeared into thin air. No footprints. No signs of struggle. Just silence.

Rumors spread like wildfire

Jackie Boyer, a Caucasian female, was 12 years old at the time of her disap.pearance. She was 4’11” and weighed 85 pounds. She had blonde hair and brown eyes, and her ears were pierced. She was last seen wearing a pink nightgown, gold stud earrings, a gold-colored Timex watch with a black leather band and a white shell necklace. $7 in cash, a maroon nylon ski jacket, and blue jogging shoes were also missing from her room.

Jackie Boyer’s nine-year-old brother was asleep in the same room at the time of her disap.pearance and didn’t see or hear anything, but he was known to be a sound sleeper. Authorities have called her disap.pearance is suspicious because Jackie did not have a prior history of running away and did not have any significant issues in her life at the time of her disap.pearance. It is believed that Jackie may have been abducted by a non-family member, and foul play is possible.

So I'm a bit confused about whether Jackie was male or female?? The story literally jumps back and forth referring to Jackie as both "him and her". Other than that it was a great read!
