The Obsessives (Part 2 of Rebecca, Selena & Christina)

Three obsessive fans who later became deranged murderers after killing their idols whether they have fallen in love with them, they desperately wants to be like them or just plain jealously. (This is the Part 2 of Rebecca, Selena, and Christina)

Robert John Brado

Robert John Brado was born January 2, 1970 in Edwards Air Force Base, California. His mother was Japanese and his father Philip was a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. Brado was the youngest out of his siblings. His family eventually moved to Arizona in 1985. Throughout Brado's childhood it wasn't easy for him, he was abused by one of his siblings and placed in foster care after he threatening to commit suicide. At 15, he dropped out of high school, spent a month at a institutionalized center to treat his emotional problems, and began working at as a janitor at Jack in the Box. He started watching My Sister Sam became a huge fan of actress of Rebecca Schaeffer. It is when he developed an obsession for Rebecca. Brado started to write a passionate love letter to Rebecca Schaeffer. After he sent his letter to Rebecca, Brado received a manila envelope, he opens it, finds an autographed picture from Rebecca Schaeffer which excite Brado.

After writing numerous letters to Schaeffer, Bardo attempted to gain access to the set of the CBS television series My Sister Sam. But Security wouldn't let him in. Brado has always thought of Rebecca as his girlfriend until he watched a film Scenes from the Class Struggles of Beverly Hills. In the film, it brought Rebecca into a more mature adult role and included a love scene. He finds Rebbeca's film characters as slut-ish and extremely absurd which angered Robert. After the film's release, Robert developed a plan to "save Rebecca".

Yolanda Saldivar

Yolanda Saldivar was born on September 19, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Frank and Juanita Saldívar. In the 80s, Yolanda worked at a dermatologists office after she was caught stealing money from a dermatologist. Saldivar was fired after and then sued by the dermatologist. The lawsuit was later settled out of court. After the lawsuit settlement, Saldivar pursued her education at Palo Alto College and later graduated with a nursing degree. In the mid 90s, Saldivar attended Selena's concert in San Antonio and became a fan. She started to spend her money on buying Selena's music and started attending to her concerts more often. According Abraham, Yolanda left voicemails to start a fan club for Selena and her band. Abraham finally reached Yolanda and finally asked to start a fan club. At first, Abraham was hesitant with Yolanda starting a fan club but he thought why not for the best for Selena and allows Yolanda to create a fan club. Saldivar quits her nursing job and started the fan club and made herself president of Selena's fan club. Yolanda was responsible for sending newsletters to fans, autographs, and e for all Selena fans who joined the club and paid a membership fee. Saldívar did not meet Selena until December 1991. The two developed a close friendship and became part of the Quintanilla family. The Quintanilla family accepted Yolanda as part of the family especially Selena. Selena would even give Yolanda a nickname "Buffy" or mom. By 1993, the fan club had reached 1,500 members in less than four years, and eventually grew to over 5,000. It became one of the largest fan clubs in the San Antonio area. When Selena was about to open her boutique Selena Etc., she needed someone to take over while she was working on music. Yolanda decided since she is president of the fan club she wanted to take over the boutiques. Selena and hired her as store manager of Selena Etc.

After Yolanda was hired by Selena, things started to take a toll for Selena's business. Staff at Selena Etc. have complained that Saldívar was always "nice" when Selena was around, but treated everyone terribly when Selena was away. According to Martin Gomez, Selena's fashion designer, he tried to warn Selena about Yolanda and later told Selena that one of his assistants went over Yolanda's house saw some creepy Selena memorbillia inside her home. Selena didn't find it a big deal. Until Abraham found discrepancies in Selena's business, Saldivar was writing checks to herself and stealing money from Selena's fan club and Selena's boutique. Saldivar deny that she has stolen money from the fan club or from the boutique and has "proof" that she has documents that shows she has never stolen anything from Selena and her boutique. Selena had no choice but to fire Yolanda. The next day, Saldívar purchased a gun at A Place to Shoot, a gun shop and shooting range in San Antonio. She bought a Taurus Model 85 snub-nosed .38-caliber revolver and .38 caliber hollow-point bullets; the bullets were designed to cause more extensive injuries. It was at that moment Yolanda wanted to get even with the Quintanilla family.

Kevin James Loibel

Kevin James Loibel was born on March 10, 1989 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Unlike Brado, Kevin didn't have a great childhood as well. Loibel was quiet introvert who spends most of the time in his room covering up the windows in his room with tinfoil. Now I'm not sure about his families life or his childhood home life. All I know and researched that Loibel is and was an introvert. Even though he doesn't spend much of his time in the outside world. Loibel would spend much of his time in his room playing video games like World of Warcraft and The Legend of Zelda (Christina's favorite game). He started watching Christina Grimmie on YouTube and gained interest with Grimmie. According to Best buy associates who works with Kevin, Loibel would talk about Christina Grimmie even though they have no idea who Christina Grimmie is. Kevin starts to get liposunction to lose weight, hair plugs, teeth whitening, everything he could do to get Grimmie's attention. According to his friend Cory Dennington, he said that he did it just to be a video game streamer. While he was working at Best Buy, an employee approached and showed him a Instagram picture of Christina Grimmie and her "boyfriend" Stephen even though Christina never confirmed that she was in a relationship with him.

Liobel started to feel jealous of Christina Grimmie's "relationship". Better yet, enraged that he felt Christina betrayed him. Loibel decides to make the decision to ascend.

July 18, 1989

The day before July 18, Robert hires a private investigator to find Rebecca Schaeffer's address. The private investigator found her and tells Robert where she lives. Robert leaves Tuscon and arrives at West Hollywood. He tries to ask neighbors if t shows an photo of Rebecca Schaeffer. He found Rebecca's apartment and rings the doorbell. Rebecca opens the door .Robert introduced himself and claims that is a "fan" of Rebecca. Rebecca politely excused herself and told Brado how she appreciate him being a fan. They shake hands with each other, say their goodbyes and Brado leaves. Rebecca stays in her apartment and waits for her script to arrive. Brado arrives at the diner ordering some onion rings while he was check in his bag. Secretly he was loading bullets in his gun. He left the diner and went back to Rebecca's apartment and rings the bell again. Rebecca opens the door and sees Brado. Rebecca tells Brado "you are wasting your time" and ask him to leave. Brado says he has something for Rebecca, goes through his bag, and pulls out his gun.

He shot Rebecca in the chest. Rebecca collapse and screams,

"Why? Why?"

Brado flees her away from apartment leaving Schaeffer to bleed to death. The next day, after he killed Rebecca, Brado was arrested at Tuscon, Arizona while he was walking on highway planning a suicide.

U2 song "Exit" inspires Brado to kill Rebecca Schaeffer.

March 31, 1995

The day before March 31, Yolanda arrives in her red pickup truck and checks in Days Inn Motel. They assigned her to Room 158. A motel room where Selena would later meet Yolanda. After she checked in, Yolanda calls Selena to tell Selena she was raped in Mexico. The next day, March 31, Selena takes Yolanda to the to be examined. After the examination, a nurse confronted Selena to tell her that there was no evidence that shows that she was assaulted. Selena was disappointed in Yolanda and told her that she wants her financial documents and that's it. Selena takes Yolanda back to the motel room to get her financial records and perfume samples. They entered back to Room 158 and the argument continues. Selena takes the egg ring off and ends her friendship with Yolanda for good. Saldivar reaches in her purse pulls out .38-caliber revolver and shot Selena in the back. Selena exit out of Room 158 scurries to the motel lobby for help. According to motel staff, Saldívar seemed "calm" and went back in her room after chasing Selena.Yolanda leaves Room 158 and gets inside her red pickup truck to the motel until police arrived at the Days Inn parking lot. Yolanda had no choice but park in a parking lot. Two Police Officers draw their guns at her red pickup truck. They ordered Yolanda to get out of their vehicle but Yolanda did not comply. Yolanda sat in her red pickup truck crying with her gun to her head and said,

"I did something very bad. I have disgraced my family"

testified Joe Claire, a police officer at the scene. Yolanda kept sobbing and kept saying:

"I didn't mean to kill her!"

Saldivar persuade to the police that the shooting was accidental. She hears on the radio that Selena has died. Officer tried to tell her not to listen to the radio and negotiating to surrender. The standoff lasted until the night.Yolanda continues to threaten to kill herself while police negotiator tries to tell Saldivar not to kill herself and get out of the vehicle. Yolanda agrees to get out of the vehicle until Larry Young, police chief negotiator comes out. Larry Young steps out lures Yolanda to come out the vehicle. Yolanda sees Larry, she lowers the gun away from her head and exit out of her vehicle. Swat Team tackles Saldivar down to the ground and arrested her. They later told Saldivar that Selena had died leaving Saldivar devastated.

June 10, 2016

Christina Grimmie posted a Snapchat video on her Twitter page. Somehow Loibel saw the video on her twitter page and knew it would be his chance to met Christina Grimmie. Before he left Orlando, Loibel packed two guns and a hunting knife with him to travel to Orlando. He later destroyed his computer harddrive. Kevin takes the taxi to Orlando and checks into a hotel for the night. The next day, he heads into a clothing store wandering the store for several minutes until he purchased a cap from the store. He finally arrived at The Plaza Live.

As the concert comes to close, fans including Loibel heads to the meet and greet to see Christina Grimmie. Grimmie was signing autographs, taking selfies with fans, and giving her EP album to her fans.

After Christina takes her would be final selfie with her last fan, she sees Kevin James Loibel. Just when Christina was about to give him a hug, Liobel pulls out a 9mm black glock shot Grimmie in the head and three times in the chest. Grimmie is down. Fans scream in frantic and 911 calls were received at the Plaza Live. Grimme's brother Marcus saw Kevin tackles him, threw Marcus on the ground until he points the gun to his head and shot himself in the head.Kevin James Loibel was dead at the scene. Grimmie was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.

So what happened to the deranged fanatic murderers????

After the murder of Christina Grimmie and Loibel's suicide, Liobel's families left a note outside their house leaving no further comments. However, they have send their condolences to Christina Grimmie's families.

Robert John Brado was found guilty for first degree murder of Rebecca Schaeffer. Brado's name was mentioned on two episodes of Criminal Minds. After Rebecca's death, Her former boyfriend Brad Silberling directed a film Moonlight Mile loosely based on her murder. Brado admits on The Stalker Files that he regrets killing Rebecca Schaeffer and had no idea why he did it. He is currently serving life at the Avenal State Prison in Avenal, California.

Yolanda has been found guilty and charged for first degree murder of Selena Quintanilla-Perez. She sticks to her story that the shooting was accidental even in interviews she still says that she loved Selena and she didn't mean to kill her. She will be eligible for parole on March 30, 2025. In the Selena, the 1997 film, Lupe Ontiveros portrayed as Yolanda Saldivar.

In 2020-2021 Selena, the Netflix limited series, Natasha Perez portrayed as Yolanda as well.
