Unbeknownst to her mother, Brittanee has headed 100s of miles away from home to Myrtle Beach without approval.

About Brittanee

At the time of her disappearance in 2009, Brittanee Drexel was a 17-year-old high school student from Rochester, New York. She is described by her friends and family as a fun-loving jokester, smiling from ear to ear and laughing. She was a talented soccer star and outshined on the field with her speed. After a rough patch in her life, she wanted to let loose and spend her spring break in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with classmates she was acquainted with. Her mom and dad refused to let her go because spring break is known for bad news.

Despite this, Brittanee asked her parents several times if she could go and the answer remained a no which irritated her. Brittanee left the house very upset. When things calmed down she called her mom to apologize and asked if she could instead go to a friend's house who lived nearby. Her mom was more comfortable with that than South Carolina and agreed to let her go. Unbeknownst to her mother, Brittanee has headed 100s of miles away from home to Myrtle Beach without approval. She tells her boyfriend of her plans and he encourages her to go and have some fun for three days.

Day One (Thursday, April 23rd, 2009)

Brittanee arrives in Myrtle Beach, SC with her friends and texts her boyfriend that all was well. She was enjoying the weather, the view was beautiful and she was having a great time. She was staying at a hotel that was right on the beach named Bar Harbor and she was excited to be there. When her mom reached out to see how she was doing, she assured her she was at her friend's house watching movies and she stayed in constant contact with her boyfriend for the night.

Day Two (Friday, April 24th, 2009)

Brittanee was still in constant contact with her boyfriend and told him she was feeling detached from her friends. She felt isolated because they were drinking and doing heavy drugs and she was not interested in joining them. She started to do things on her own around Myrtle Beach, such as going to the beach and eating at restaurants. Later that evening she was relieved to run into a familiar face from Rochester, New York.

Brittanee befriended a male college student while on the Boulevard while being insulted and yelled at by a group of kids. She asked him to walk with her so she wouldn't be alone and he did. After she disappeared he released this video to the Myrtle Beach police and said he had no idea where she was. Here is the video he shot of Brittanee, 24 hours before she vanished:

Day Three (Saturday, April 25th, 2009)

2:00 PM-Brittanee's mom and sister called to let her know they bought her new soccer cleats while at the mall. They inquired where she was and she told them she was at the beach, they assumed she was at a nearby beach named Sherlock Beach. Her mom asked to speak to a parent and she put someone on the phone. This person told her mom it was OK for Brittanee to stay at her friend's house. She tells her mom when she leaves the beach, she will go back to her friend's house to watch movies. She thanked her for letting her come and she would return home the next day.

8:00 PM-She borrowed a pair of shorts from her friend and planned to meet up with her friend she ran into from Rochester, NY.

8:15 PM-Brittanee was seen on a traffic camera walking alone on her phone headed to the Blue Water Resort. She was texting her boyfriend that she was having a horrible time and disclosed her regrets about the people she came to Myrtle Beach with. A short time after arriving at the Resort, she received a message from her friend to return the shorts she borrowed.

8:48 PM-Annoyed and frustrated, Brittanee left and headed back to her hotel which was a mile away angrily texting her boyfriend.

8:58 PM-This is the time of her last message to her boyfriend and all cell phone activity stopped. There was no sign of her on the traffic camera and somewhere between the Blue Water Resort and Bar Harbor, she vanished without a trace.

9:00 PM-After being in constant contact with her thus far, her boyfriend became very concerned when he did not hear back from her. He was frantically texting her that if she did respond he was going to tell her parents the whole truth. He never got a response back from Brittanee. It should have taken her about 15 minutes to walk from hotel to hotel. She was never seen or heard from again.

Shortly after, Mom received a call from Brittanee's boyfriend telling her the whole story. He told her Brittanee went to Myrtle Beach and he had not heard from her. Her mom was initially angry at her for going to South Carolina without her permission. Her anger turned into fear when she was unable to reach Brittanee. The shocked family packs up in disbelief and headed to South Carolina to find Brittanee.

9:27 PM-Brittanee's cell phone pinged in an unfavorable swamp area named Surfside Beach. Surfside Beach is about seven miles south of Myrtle Beach.

11:58 PM-Brittanee's cell phone pinged for the last time 50 miles away near Georgetown County. The area is searched and nothing turned up that would lead them to her.
