Kat Torres was a Brazilian model and she wanted more stardom, so she decides to move to America. Her aim was Hollywood. This did not exactly pan out the way she wanted. Instead she quickly rose to fame as a social media influencer. She portrayed herself as being very wealthy and leading a very successful life. Her successful life used to be beaming all over Instagram. She had more than million followers. She portrayed this persona that she was living her best life.

She also positioned herself as being a spiritual guide , hypnotist , self-help author and life coach who regularly consumed ayahuasca, a psychedelic . Ayahuasca had a reputation for healing your inner self but also had negative impacts such as violet and abusive behaviours. Her violent tendencies became worst when she started taking hallucinogenic drug along with ayahuasca. She was now started to loose it and hallucinating things.

Kat Torres was really popular and she many followers who really looked up to her. Out of them were two young woman Maia Alvarenga (21 years) and Desirrê Freitas (25 years). Kat Torres was looking for assistants , she want to hire people from her followers. Maia Alvarenga and Desirrê Freitas jumped the gun and really wanted to work her. These 2 were her followers and really loved her and wanted to do everything to help her. Kat Torres would hire these 2 women and she would promise that they she would help them create a new life. They too can live lavishly like her and be successful in life. This was like a dream come true for them. These two would decide to move to America and move in with Kat Torres.

When the two woman arrived at Kat Torres’s apartment they were shocked, the entire apartment was a mess and Kat herself looked like a mess. They were shocked to say the least, online Kate portrays herself as having a lavish life so they wee not expecting this. Now the two girls had do everything around the house , they had to do the cleaning , house chores. The worst part was Kate was not even paying them , she had promised she would pay them. At this point the two girl were now more like slaves. They were completely cut off from the outside world. They were in this foreign country , knew no one , all they knew was Kate. They were not even allowed to contact their families. Kate even took their passports away. They were truly trapped. They had no where to go.

Things even get worst , Kate Torres would force them to join escort websites. She would make two girls entertain strange men in their room. They had to work this many hours in a day. Kate would take all the money they make. Girls were truly trapped , they had nowhere to turn to for help.

The families of the 2 girls have not heard from them in a while , so will find a missing person’s report. Now the 2 girls were reported missing and case was opened . The families had informed the investigators that the 2 girls ad gone to America to work for a woman by the name Kate Torres. The investigators would decide to open a case against Kate Torres.

Kate Torres would force the 2 girls to make a video of themselves to their families saying that they are happy , not to look for them and just leave them alone. From seeing this video anyone can tell that the 2 girls were really scared and people could tell that they were being force to make a video of themselves.

Eventually Torres was arrested and detained in the U.S and the woman were returned safely to Brazil. Kate Torres was sentenced to eight years in prison for human trafficking and slavery.
