Prologue
We shall begin this story with two young males outside playing. One goes by the name David, and the other is Goliath. The two were playing catch with a baseball until two ladies entered the park. Both of them were slim and dressed in jeans and a tank top. David took fancy of these girls.
"Stop checking out those females and throw me the baseball," Goliath yelled at David. David looked at Goliath and nodded his head. Then he ran towards the ladies,
"You think I meant to throw them the baseball? Cause I didn't," Goliath yelled with a voice that had a slight hint of joking around.
"Hold on G, I will be right back. I'm about to go say what's up real quick." David yelled to Goliath as he approached the two females. One was black and the other was Chinese.
"Hey ladies, you're both cute. Me and my brother over there were wondering if we can get y'all Book of Face?" While David was flirting, Goliath was laughing at David's persistence for the ladies. David began running back to Goliath, "Mission success. I want the Chinese, her name is Aline." David and Goliath spent the rest of the evening at the park playing ball and talking.
"They are always stressing me to find a place. Fine; I'm working on it, but we can't even have a real conversation. I say hi, they ask if I found a place." David vented and released a sigh.
"That's tough stuff, I would hate my parents." Goliath told David, and David nodded his head in agreement.
"Yeah, but what can I do? They're my parents." David said with a hint of sadness.
"Stay hustling and looking brother. I got to go home, but you're free to come by for the night." Goliath told David, but David shook his head to turn down the offer.
"Good looks G, but I have handle my own." David handed Goliath a piece of paper with the name Jaqueza Highlands. "Oh and that's the other girl's Book of Face." Goliath smiled and put the paper in his pocket,
"Your way of life and with the ladies never cease to amaze me. I'll catch you later bro." Goliath shouted as they both ended their day at the park by walking opposite directions.
Goliath arrives at home and throws his backpack on the couch, grabs a soda from the fridge, then log on to his laptop.
"Okay let's find you Jaqueza. Hmm...," While in the middle of his search, he sees an article. "Oh this has David's face. That's interesting, let's see what it's about."
Goliath's face turned grim once he opened the article. He scrolled to the top,
"That's impossible, I was just with him. I got to call him" Goliath picked up his cell, and dialed David's number. The phone rang for a minute, then went to voice-mail.
"Hey, call me when you can." Goliath hung up his phone. "Now I'm too anxious, I'm about to play some video games and unwind." Goliath spent the rest of the night playing a fighting game, but not once did the phone leave his side, not once did the phone ring.
Chapter 1
Goliath steps outside his house and looks at his phone,
"It's been three days and still no word. I'm going to stop by after work." Goliath told himself as he walked down the stairs. He has been worried about David ever since he found the article online. An article that said his best friend was missing. Getting no word from David is only increasing Goliath's anxiety.
Goliath jumps into his car and begins to drive off. After being on the road and listening to tunes for ten minutes, Goliath receive a phone call. He looks down to take a quick glimpse at the caller ID, and it said David,
"Of Course the sick bastard will wait until I'm driving to call. Why would I expect otherwise?" Goliath vents to himself in a sarcastic tone. Goliath was anxious to answer the phone, but his morale wouldn't let him since he was driving. Relieved that he received a phone call from David; Goliath decided to keep moving forward and call David back after he parks.
Goliath arrives at his job parking lot, and instantly called David. However David did not answer,
"You son of a gun, how are you not going to answer a call back?" Goliath mumbled underneath his breath as he got out of the car. As he walked up to the jobsite building, he called David again and still no luck.
Goliath walks into the building and is greeted by his coworker Chase.
"Goliath, why did you have a sad face?" Chase asked instead of greeting. Goliath took a breath to think. He didn't know if three days was enough time to start worrying about a friend or not. Goliath knew Chase was one of the people that would interfere in their friends' life. So he didn't want to bother Chase with this in case it was nothing.
"Hey Chase, it's nothing. I'm fine." Goliath said to Chase, but Chase still seemed skeptical. "Well I have to get to work, we'll talk later. Okay?" Goliath walked off but Chase insisted on following him. Goliath looks back to see Chase monitoring him, like he's studying him. "Can I help you with something?" Goliath asked.
"Have you heard the news lately? Some little girl that's been missing turned up dead at a festival." Chase told him. Goliath knew what chase was doing, using small talk to preoccupy his mind from whatever topic was haunting him.
"No, that's some dark stuff." Goliath had responded.
"Yeah, I know her brother. He's taking it pretty hard right now." Chase told him.
"I believe you, give him my condolences." Goliath told Chase as the clocked in on computers next to each other.
After a long eight hour shift, Goliath was finally done. The whole time he could only think of the article that he saw online. The Article that said David had gone missing for three weeks, and was then found dead by the river. The call from David gave him hope that it was just a prank, but David still hasn't picked up his phone since the last call.
Goliath checked his phone to see David left a voice-mail. He clicked on David's message,
"I told you, and you can trust it." It wasn't David, but a darker and deeper voice. Goliath eyes widened out of fear. It was in that instant that Chase walked up to Goliath again.
"After seeing that face, I'm not allowing you to hide anything from me any longer. What's going on?" Chase asked, but it seemed more like a concerned demand. Goliath decided to tell Chase, but it sounded crazy in Goliath's head.
"Have you seen an article about a missing kid turning up dead at a river?" Goliath asked Chase with a serious tone. Chase shook his head no. Then his eyes began to widen as he realized what been bothering Goliath,
"Oh no. You knew the guy didn't you?" Chase asked with sincerity in his voice. His face revealed true concern.
"Yes, but let's put that to the side. I'm more worried that this article was released three days ago. It said he was missing for three weeks, but he went missing the day this article was released. I know because we were hanging out the day it was released. I called him; and after days of no answers, I got this voice-mail." Goliath played the voice-mail for Chase, and he looked spooked. "I'm sorry, this isn't your problem. I shouldn't have played this." Goliath faced was depressed,
"No, this doesn't seem like a prank. I know someone who will know more." Chase said with enthusiasm coming out his voice.
"What do you mean?" Goliath was confused by Chase's new found enthusiasm.
"Well you said this article was released on the day he went missing. His body hasn't actually been found right?" Chase asked.
"No, but it might be soon enough." Goliath said worried while staring at his phone. He couldn't believe his best friend was in a predicament like this.
"It seems he was taken and the guy that did it is taunting you. Telling from the article and the voice-mail..."
"Where are you going with this?" Goliath asked staring at Chase
"What if he is still alive? It didn't look like
the body was drowned, just dumped there." Chase said to Goliath.
"That's a good point, but how can we find him?" Goliath asked. Chased smirked,
"Leave that to me. I just need you to send that link to me." Chase had said.
Chapter Two
The next day after sending Chase the link to the article, Goliath was sitting in his room. Playing his game system to keep his mind off of things. Chase seemed confident in knowing what to do. So Goliath had no choice but to put his trust in Chase. It was right on cue that Goliath received a text from Chase telling him to come outside.
"Did you find something that fast?" Goliath asked in shock.
"No, but I got someone working on it." Chase had informed him.
"Ok, so what's up?" Goliath asked
"I thought we could go grab something to eat. I'm sure you're just as antsy as me to figure this out. Won't hurt to distract ourselves." Chase explained to him. Goliath shrugged his shoulder with little to no hesitation.
"Ok, there's a taco spot up the street." Goliath told him. They had decided to walk to the taco shop. On the way up there Chase was saying hello to everyone by name. First was Nick, then Tammy, and even Chris. Goliath didn't even know Chris's name, and Chris stayed across the street from him. "How are you so popular?" Goliath asked him.
"I've helped out a lot of people for side jobs." Chase explained to him. Goliath realized that Chase was a social butterfly, but he was more surprised about himself just now realizing this. Chase was always the first to say hi, and quick to make a conversation. He's also naturally nice, he tried to buy Goliath's food for him but Goliath denied it.
After eating and talking about their favorite video games, Chase said he had to go. He also told Goliath to keep his phone close to him. They split ways and Goliath went home and played more video games.
Chase went home and grabbed his phone out his pocket. He scrolled through his contacts and made a phone call,
"Hey, things are starting to get weird here sis. A little girl turned up dead, and now there's an article predicting a guy missing right before he went missing. I need you to get here." Chase said over the phone.
"Ok, I'll book a flight now. I'll be there within a week." The voice had said.
"Wait, I just got a text from my guy. He said he got the source." Chase said with excitement.
"Chase, wait for me to get there. Don't do anything on your own." The voice had gotten louder.
"Ok ok I won't. We'll just meet up and discuss. Love you." Chase told her before he hanged up. He then texted Goliath.
Meet me at this location. 2315 Cornrel St. Goliath turned the system off, and walked out the door. After ten minutes, Goliath reached the location by car. He walked up to the door and knocked.
A slim fellow in a fancy white attire answered the door. He looked Goliath up and down,
"Ah you must be Goliath. I am Cyler. The one that decoded your article. Come in, we have much to discuss." Cyler gave off a real 1980 gentleman vibe. The only thing his outfit was missing was a top hat and cane. It was weird, but Goliath felt as if he could trust Cyler.
Goliath followed Cyler inside the house. It was clean and tidy. Exactly what you would expect after Cyler's first impression. Cyler kept quiet until they reached his room. Chase was already here lounging around playing a video game.
"What is this? A gang meet up?" Goliath asked.
"No, there's a reason I brought Cyler into this. Well, he'll be best to explain why he's participating." Chase told Goliath. Cyler stood in a corner, treating the conversation unimportant. Goliath walked up and peeked around at Cyler's face. Goliath couldn't understand what he saw, Cyler was crying.
"Woah man, I didn't mean anything by the skepticism." Goliath said to try and calm down Cyler. Cyler wiped away his tears and turned towards Goliath,
"You're not the first person tormented by this thing."Cyler stated to Goliath.
"Not too long, a month, I found an article about my baby sister. It stated she was missing for two weeks, then found dead at a carnival."
"Wait, you mean the little girl at the carnival was your sister? She was found last week though." Goliath was obviously confused.
"Yes, but she was also missing for a few weeks beforehand. Whoever, whatever, is posting these articles; they got your friend."
"Woah, I'm sorry. But I can't allow that to happen to David or anyone else." Goliath was now enthusiastic. "I don't know why, but I'm getting pumped up." Goliath told the squad. Chase smiled
sharing the same enthusiasm, but Cyler was still thinking about his sister.
"Good to hear, cause I want to avenge my sister. I got the first clue." Cyler said while making a tight fist. A dark look was now Cyler's expression.
"Hm? Already?" Goliath's face quickly changed to shock.
"Yes, thanks to the article Chase sent me last night." Cyler answers.
"Now this is the juicy part." Chase said excitedly.
"I did some hacking, and the I.P. address for both articles came from this
address." Cyler informed.
"Great address, what's our plan of action?" Goliath asked.
"I got that covered." Chase said as he pulled out a green duffle bag. He unzipped it to show three pistols and a bunch of bullets.
"Woah! What if it's not human that we're going to deal with?" Goliath expressed
"Don't worry, I also got bullets packed with salt. It works on this show that deals with supernatural things." Chase explained to the group.
"You watch too much TV." Cyler expressed
"If you don't have a better idea, I don't want to hear it." Chase had argued. Cyler stayed quiet.
"Ok, we got the address. Let's go." Goliath had stated.
"Actually, I will be staying here. My mind is too boggled for this in all honesty." Cyler had said. Chase and Goliath both nodded their head in agreement. Chase picked up the duffle bag, and they both left out of Cyler's house.
"This is the address, but is he sure he did it right?" Goliath asked as he and Chase walked up to an abandoned building. Three front windows were broken, concrete stairs cracked, and the front door was missing the knob.
"Seems like perfect place to torture and hide people to me." Chase said as he stared at the door. His body was completely still, except for the shaking his body was doing. He was neglecting to open the door.
"It seems scary to me as well, but Chase. Let me ask you a question." Goliath said as he also stared at the front door.
"Go ahead." Chase stated.
"Why are you doing this? You don't know David. Did you know Cyler's little sister?" Goliath asked.
"No, nothing dark like that. This is my town. This thing is taunting us. My friend's suffering. I want it to stop. Plus I like adventure. We work at an office, so my life isn't all that exciting." After stating his reasons, Chase toughened up and Goliath
began to laugh,
"You are one nutty cookie... no homo." Goliath wiped a tear from his eye after laughing so hard. Chase smiled as if he found that as a compliment. Both then took a deep breath in sync, and pushed open the door.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" A random voice yelled from the back of them. They turned around to see an officer shining a flashlight at them. "Nobody is allowed here." He stated to the two.
"Better question is why are you here? What interest does a cop have with this building?" Goliath had asked. Chase was looking panicked and nervous.
"We got reports that there been
suspicious activity around here. Are you guys the cause of it?" The officer asked with a serious tone.
"No, but we have reason to believe that someone is being held captive here." Goliath responded. The officer squinted his eyes,as if he was trying to judge whether or not they were telling the truth.
"If that's the case then I'll tag along with you. I am an officer, if that's true it can be dangerous." Chase looked at Goliath as if he was hesitant about the idea. However Goliath nodded his head in agreement.
"This really can be dangerous. He's our best bet for protection." Goliath explained to Chase. The officer also showed that he was in agreement with this.
"Ok fine, but what's your name? I don't feel right calling you “officer”." Chase had asked.
"Freeman, Officer Freeman at your service." Freeman said while bowing at the two. Chase laughed at Freeman’s introduction.
“Don’t you think Freeman is a little bit of a generic name? Feels fake to me.” Chase whispered to Goliath.
"What is yours?" Freeman asked.
"I'm Chase and this is Goliath." Chase introduced themselves. They shook hands with Officer Freeman and headed inside the building.
Chapter 3
Immediately after stepping inside the house, they heard part of the floorboard snap.
"Ok I would definitely hide a body here, but where would I put them?" Goliath said while observing the house. It has obviously been abandoned for a while. The colors in the wall had no life, the living room was dusty, the couch was old and possibly bug infested.
"In most shows, the person is being held in the basement." Chase said as he walked towards a doorway. He looked into the next room, and saw an old kitchen. A table standing on two legs, the other two was broken.
"Good idea, but I also want to check out the attic." Goliath said.
"You two go search for a basement. I'll check upstairs for an attic." Freeman said as he stood in front of some stairs that lead up. All of them nodded their heads in agreement, and Freeman went upstairs as Goliath followed Chase. When Goliath
stepped inside the old kitchen, Chase put out his arm to stop Goliath,
"Do you really trust him? In most movies the person at these types of places is the killer. Plus what kind of name is Freeman? It's totally an alias." Chase whispered to Goliath as he checked the hallway.
"No, I got a weird feeling from him too. Let's follow him." Goliath said as he went back to the stairs, and Chase followed him. They slowly progressed up the stairs, overly cautious. As they reached the top of the stairs, they heard a door open slowly with a rusty noise. They looked to see only one door open on the left wall. As they approached the door, Freeman ran out with a hostile expression on his face at the two.
Freeman punched Goliath in the face hard enough to slam him into the wall. Afterwards Freeman began to tackle Chase, but Chase didn't go down. They were having a grappling war when Goliath punched Freeman from the side, sending him down the stairs. They went to the open door and entered the room, to see David tied up with a mouth gag.
Goliath ran to David and used an old piece of broken glass on the ground to cut the rope off. David took the gag out his mouth, but was silent. His face held a horrible expression of fear. Wondering what had David scared, Goliath turned around.
Freeman was holding Chase by his chin in a hostage predicament,
"He doesn't have to be the sacrifice, anyone oblivious to the plan can be sacrificed." Freeman said as he split Chase's throat without a second of hesitation. Chase stood there with a blank expression on his face,
"Get out of here." Chase said before his body went lifeless and dropped on the floor. Goliath became so pissed, his face was mean mugging the hell out of Freeman.
"Don't give me that look, he was part of a greater plan. We're one step closer towards bringing change with the Great God. His death was a worthy sacrifice." Freeman said with a big grin on his face.
"Any god that needs a human sacrifice, is obviously a demon. The only change you're going to see is the same perspective as Chase." Goliath yelled as he
began to pursue Freeman, but David grabbed him. "What are you doing? Let go." Goliath yelled while struggling to escape David's grasp.
"He's not normal. He got powers, you'll die." David yelled out to Goliath. Goliath stopped struggling while staring at Freeman,
"He tried to kill you, and actually murdered Chase. I don't care if he's God, he's not getting away with it." Goliath yelled as he got angrier. Freeman laughed as he held his hand up. Pieces of broken glass started to highlight with a dark neon purple color, then they shook rapidly, as they floated up in mid air. Stopped at Goliath's face level, they then began to fly towards Goliath at high speeds. Goliath managed to cover his face and chest with his arms in a split second, and all the glass stopped at piercing his arms.
Goliath yelled out of pain, and Freeman began to laugh maniacally. Goliath took a deep breath and stared Freeman in the eyes,
"Glass? Not very creative to be laughing like that." Goliath said smirking at Freeman. Freeman got an annoyed look on his face, and began to laugh again.
"You got guts for someone about to die. Why don't you shiver out of fear like your friend?" Freeman asked.
"You really think I'm going to be one to let you just have your way with my friends? They did nothing to you. Like I said, I don't care if you're God. You're not getting away with it." Freeman laughed again,
"Rejoice, it's not your time yet. I'll tell you my plan. I'm on a mission to better this world, but only one being can do it. He needs particular offerings to show. You friends met the conditions for one of the offerings. I got a few more to go. If you don't like it, try to stop me." Freeman laughed as he raised his hand up to the ceiling. Before Goliath could say anything, a piece of ceiling fell on him and David, knocking them unconscious. Once they came to, Freeman was gone.
