The night was darker than usual. The only light that shown was the little street lamp whose light was on it's way to streetlight Heaven. Jace Watts starred into the darkness as he blended into the shadows. He was here as a favor to his sister,Kara. She had asked him to follow her best friends dad. Se was afraid he was grtting into something that would hurt him or his family. She had told Kara that he had been acting strange lately. Jace had agreed but now he thought better of it for it looked like a doozy of a storm.

Somehow, Lydia found out that her bestfriend's brother would take on a case to investigate once in awhile. She asked her to ask him for her. He didn't want to do it at first but then he relented. He knew that working for family or friends of family went South quick, sometimes. Now he was out here in the dark with a possibility of a storm or at least rain, waiting for someone who may not even show up. He wondered why he was so nice sometimes.

He was standing there when he heard footsteps coming toward him. He listened intently as they drew near. He braced himself against the wall as much as he could. He waited and then he saw a shadow approching his hiding place. Then he heard a familer voice quitely yell," Jace, are you here. It's me, Kara. He stepped into the little light that flickered along the ground.

"What are you doing here, why didn't you stay home?" he asked as he held her shoulders.

"I had something to tell you and you left your phone at the house. I needed to tell you that Lydia called and said her dad wasn't going anywhere tonight. That you might as well pack it in till another night." She replied to his question's.

"Are you even sure she has a right to be worried about him or is she just just making it up to send me on a wild goose chase." he asked her as he watched her begin to pout.

"Now, let's go home and see if we can save the rest of the night." he told her as he herded her toward his car at the end of the alleyway.

Lydia Booker stood looking at herself in the mirror. She was dressed all in black. She hated black but tonight she had to wear it She turned and walked down the hall to her parents bedroom. her dad sat on the edge of the bed pulling on black boots to go with his black outfit. She smiled cause she was getting to work with her dad.

"Are you about ready,Dad?" she asked as he got up and put on his hat.

"Yeah, it's time. Did you take care of your friends brother? I feel better that he is on a wild goose chase than being around. That guy I swear shows up at the wrong time." he told her as they headed down the stairs.

When they got to the door, he turned around and told her that this was their last job and that he was divorcing her mother and he was leaving town.

She looked at him and rage started building in her body for she knew why. He has a new girlfriend and he is going to leave with her. When they got in the cr she never said a word. He put the truck in gear and headed to their destinatin.

Jace had parked in another alley. He didn't want his car to be in the same as he had staked out. He and Kara was just at the car when she saw her friends dad's car go by. They stepped to the alley entryway and watched where he was going. As they watched the car pulled into another alleyway just over a street or two from where she had told Kara to send him. Maybe the girl did have a reason to worry but that was dashed when they saw Lydia get out with he dad.

Kara started to go to her friend and ask her what the sam hill she was doing but Jace held her back. It took all she had to let her brother stop her. Now they needed to be level headed for they were in the wrong and Kara knew her friend wasn't a friend no more.

Lydia carried a little brown bag. she sat it down on the alley pavement and removed what looked like a small crowbar. She took it and began to pry at the lock. Soon it sprang away from the door. They covered their faces and entered the little store. After the disappeared Jace folowed closely by Kara stood just outside the door. They coud hear the clinking and clanking of drawers being opened and then glass being smashed. Jace looked up and founnd out that this was a very profitable pawn shop. It tookanything and everything no question's asked.

Lydia's dad looked over at her and jerked his head telling her that they had enough. They headed for the door when they saw someone standing in the doorway. Then Lydia recognized Jace Watt's her best friends brother , then Kara stepped in the doorway to. Lydia could barely see her friends face but what she could see, she wasn't happy about the situation. Her father tried being frirndly to Jace but he just stood there not wanting to say anything. He wished he could rewind time and stop these robberies. He wouldn't have to see his sister hurt like he figured she was.

Jace was the first to speak for the rest were in shock he figured. He told them that they had been caught. When Lydia saw maybe the slightest of an opening she ran butthey caught her. Kara held on to her friend while her brother walked to Harry. He took hold of his arm and lead him toward the girls. When he got over to them Kara he knew winked at her friend then turned to her brother to say something but the look he gave her she hung her head. He told Harry to hand him his phone as he did he saw a look between Kara and Harry.

He knew then that when Kara told him she had a boyfriend and that he was married but he was getting a divorce as soon as he saved enogh money. This is how he got money to save for to take care of his sister. He called the police station and the three were shocked when he said," Yes, this is Detective Watt's. I have caught the backstreet bandits. and then he almost choke when he said the next thing.

"Yes, I need you to send two patrol cars. I have one male and then he choked but managed to say two females. Kara looked at her brother foor some sort of sypathy. The squad cars came and they loaded them up. As he saw them drive away with his sister he wanted to tell them to stop and pull her from the squd car and beart her behind. He would be ther for hr when she got out if she wanted him to be. He just hated to see her tears but that was what happens when you fall into the wrong friends.
