On an average there are 86 rapes every day but how many criminals go behind bars
This figure is enough to be surprised and worried that in 2022, the trial was completed in only 5 percent of rape cases, meaning 95 percent of the cases were pending.

On an average, 86 rapes happen every day across the country. Most of these accused are acquaintances. Due to shame, society and poor legal process, it becomes a distant dream for women to get justice.
Rape – Date 19.11.2024
One – In Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, a cement businessman Virendra was arrested by the police. He was accused of sexually abusing a woman whom he had made his sister.
Two – Samad, the accused who raped a minor girl in Vikasnagar (Dehradun) and made a video of it, was arrested from Saharanpur.
Three – The accused who lured a young woman to a hotel and raped her in Noida was arrested.
Four – A drug addict father who raped his own two minor daughters in Faridabad, Haryana, was arrested; the mother had filed a report.
Five – A 26-year-old college student was raped and murdered near a bus stand in Nagpur. Police registered a case against unknown people.
Six – A married woman from a village in Pichor tehsil of Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh wrote a letter to Union Minister and regional MP Jyotiraditya Scindia saying that she was gang-raped by Gajendra Gurjar, Rupesh Gurjar, Arvind Pal and Matadin Kushwaha but the Amola police station did not register a report.
Seven – When the victim went to Orai police station in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh to lodge a rape report against her landlord, two constables took her to a secluded place and raped her in exchange for action or bribe, whatever you may call it. When the woman complained to higher officials, the accused pressured her to compromise. Now the Additional Superintendent of Police is investigating the case. Who knows why such investigations are conducted. Why was a rape charge not directly registered against these predators?
These are the few cases of rape that happened on November 19 in which a report was registered. It is difficult to guess in how many cases a report would not have been registered. By the way, according to an estimate by Mint, an agency, about 85 percent of cases of sexual violence against women are not registered. Mint made this estimate on the basis of the report of the National Family Health Survey of the year 2015 – 16 and the data of NCRB from 2014 to 2016.
Everyone knows the answer to the question why this happens, that in this the victim is defamed and the society considers her guilty. Apart from this, the victim and her family members do not even have the confidence that the accused will be punished. In how many cases of rape are the culprits punished and how many are acquitted with honour and often the rapist is someone known to them, this is also being told in the form of statistics later. But before that, a look at the crimes and rapes against women in Modi's rule.
In the last 10 years, i.e. in Modi's rule, there has been an increase of about 75 percent in crimes against women. From this figure, one can easily guess how unsafe women have become across the country. Why is this so and who is responsible for this? Before finding the answer to these questions, if we take a look at the figures, then we understand that in these 10 years, the patriarchal system has been indirectly encouraged. The most serious crime against any woman is rape, the figures of this are even more worrying.
According to the latest figures of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), more than 4 lakh crimes against women are registered across the country, apart from rape, these include kidnapping, dowry murder, acid attack, trafficking and molestation.
In the year 2022, the number of registered cases of rape was 31516. Whereas 10 years ago in 2012, this number was 24923, that is, every day some 86 rapes take place in the country where the slogan 'Yatra Nari Poojante Tatra…' is always raised with pride.
This year, the total number of crimes registered against women was 2.44 lakh, which increased to 4.45 lakh in 2022. Only God knows what and with what face a woman is called a goddess.
Statistics show that in more than 95 percent of rape cases, the accused is an acquaintance. According to NCRB, in 2324 cases in the year 2022, the rapist was a member of the victim's family. In more than 14 thousand cases, the accused was an acquaintance, online friend, ex-husband or live-in partner. In 13 thousand cases, the accused was an employer, family friend or neighbor. In only 1062 cases, the accused of rape was a stranger.
