Mystery Windfall

A rainy cloudy day, Joey was strolling down 5th towards the corner store. Coffee and bagels is all they could think of. It was 7am, Joey was trying to make it on time to catch the subway up town to work. As they were heading in the right direction, a stranger bumped into them.

"Watch where you're going jack off!", Joey yelled at the clumsy stranger. The person paid no attention to them. Something fell out of the strangers interior pocket in the mist of all this tumbling chaos. They went to go pick it up and try to give it back, but the stranger was too far down the block, running to get away from the rain. Unsure why they were being rude, then Joey remembered it's Monday. They walked shiftly towards the corner store awning to get out of the rain. Joey pulled out the envelope, turned it over, opened it up and saw a wad of money. Unsure what to do, they quickly put it back into their jacket and decided to quickly get their coffee and bacon-egg-cheese bagel to go.

Joey quickly got down to the subway, made a dash for the car with he least amount of people, then decided to catch their breathe. They thought about the envelope with the massive amount of cash just inside. Wondered how much and why was someone carrying that much around with them? Joey had a LOT of questions.

As Joey heard the destination being called over the garggle of noise from the loud speaker, they realized, to count the amount, they would have to find a space place to do it. Joey knew exactly where to go: the park. As the decision was finalized, so was Joey's fate for who was attached to that cash in the mystery envelope, was something the next 72 hrs they wished they chased down that stranger.

Joey got off the train, headed to Central Park, and quickly found their spot that was out sight out of mind to everyone. They pulled out the envleope, did a quick count of how many $10's, $20's, $50's, even a couple $100's. Then Joey was bewildered over how much. $20,000!

"Oh my god!", was all Joey could mouth in that moment to themself. The next thing they knew, they were stuffing it quickly back into their secure interior pocket, which has a zipper for safety, and got up frantic. Decided it wasn't safe to be out in public with this much money on hand, Joey had to head back home right then and there.
