Across 10 U.S. states, 35 condemned inmates have been put to death so far in 2025, many after sitting on Death Row for 10, 20, or even 30 years: cop killers, baby killers, the worst humans on Earth. Florida leads in executions, with 13 this year. Texas ranks second, having executed five inmates.

The lethal injection execution of Blaine Milam in Texas was arguably one of the most anticipated executions of the year. In my opinion, the D.P. was designed for psychopaths like him.

Blaine Milam Murdered 13-Month-Old Amora Carson

Sentenced to die for the 2008 murder of his girlfriend's 13-month-old daughter, Amora Bain Carson, whom he believed had been possessed and needed an exorcism, Blaine Milam should have been in jail when he met Amora's mom, Jesseca Carson. He was released due to overcrowding issues at the jail.

Blaine received 180 days in jail and was ordered to register as a sex offender and have no contact with any children under 18 after he walked into a 14-year-old neighbor's bedroom, wrote vulgar notes on pornographic images torn from magazines.

Case prosecutors believed Blaine used a hammer to "beat the devil" out of Amora. The baby girl had also been sexually assaulted with a pipe wrench found buried in a hole in the trailer where the couple resided. The pathologist determined Amora suffered internal organ damage and bruises across her entire body. She suffered so many potentially fatal injuries that he could not determine which one actually killed her.

Jesseca sat in the living room as Blaine attacked baby Amora. When Amora's screams became too loud, she turned up the volume on the TV so as not to disturb her movie.

Amora fought for her life. On one occasion, she ran out of the room and hid to get away from Blaine.  He searched for Amora, but could not find her. Jesseca told him exactly where she was hiding, allowing the torture to continue.

Amora suffered at least 20 bite marks across her tiny body, and one of them matched Jesseca's mouth/teeth imprint.

The Execution of Blaine Milam

Texas Dept of Corrections

The State of Texas granted Blaine two stays of execution. He spent 17 years on Death Row before the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles refused to grant him clemency a third time.

The Associated Press announced that Blaine was pronounced dead at 6:40 p.m. on September 25, 2025.

As for Jesseca, she should have been executed right along with Blaine.  The government isn't really in favor of the Death Penalty, especially for women. The U.S. has executed only 18 women since 1976 and fewer than 600 since 1632. Jesseca received a sentence of life in prison.

Upcoming Executions Scheduled for 2025

Nine additional executions have been scheduled for 2025. Unless the governor grants the following individuals clemency, they'll officially serve their sentence this year.

  • Samuel Lee Smithers is scheduled for execution on October 14, 2025. He's been on D.R. for nearly 30 years.
  • Lance Collin Shockley from Missouri is scheduled to be executed on October 14, 2025.  He’s been incarcerated for 20 years.
  • Charles Ray Crawford has an execution date of October 15, 2025. He’s been on Death Row for 33 years.
  • Richard Djef from Arizona had an execution date set on October 17, 2025. He’s been in prison for 32 years.
  • Anthony Todd Boyd has been on Death Row for 33  years. He has a scheduled death date set for October 23, 2025.
  • Norman Grim Jr. from  Florida has served 27 years behind bars. He has an execution date set for October 28, 2025.
  • Tremane Wood of Oklahoma has been incarcerated for 24 years. He has an execution date set for November 13, 2025.
  • Bryan Jennings of Florida has been on Death Row for 46 years. The 66-year-old will finally meet his end on  November 13, 2025.
  • Harold Wayne Nichols has a slated execution date of December 11, 2025. Nichol, from Tennessee, has spent 37 years on Death Row.

Increased Number of Executions

In 2024, 25 people were executed across the United States. Florida executed only one person. The increase in the number of executions this year likely relates to the change in leadership in red states, state leaders pushing for executions, and inmates exhausting all their avenues (appeals, clemency, etc.) to save their lives.
