Man Who Stopped Attack Against Woman Arrested for Murder

Abraham rammed the man with his vehicle to stop him from stabbing his ex-wife

As a survivor of domestic violence, this infuriates me.

A man known only as Abraham witnessed 41-year-old Leon McCaskre repeatedly stabbing 43-year-old mom-of-two, Yasmin Chikaifi, who happened to be his ex-wife. Several others witnessed the stabbing and tried to intervene to save the woman’s life. Nothing stopped the vicious attack and the man continued stabbing.

Abraham Stops Stabbing

Abraham knew he had to help the woman so he did the first thing that came to mind: used his car as a weapon. As witnesses looked on, Abraham drove toward the couple, striking both of them with his vehicle. McCaskre became trapped under the vehicle and later died at the scene from his injuries. The woman, who had been stabbed 10 times, also passed away at the scene from her injuries. Police have now charged Abraham with homicide. The incident occurred in Maida Vale, London, on January 24, 2022.

Abraham issued a statement via his lawyer, Mohammed Akunjee, saying ‘It was never my intention to harm’ and claiming he ‘just wanted to stop him from hurting anybody further.’

“I am a person of good character. I have bever been arrested before in my life. I witnessed a man repeatedly stabbing a defenseless woman on the pavement a short distance in front of my car. My instant thought was to protect the woman who had been stabbed and the public who were also being threatened…I drove my vehicle towards the attacker in order to get him away from the woman he was attacking. I did not intend to harm the attacker, I only intended to protect those being attacked.”

Stalking Protection Order in Place

Chikaifi feared one day the man would kill her. She told friends as much two years before her death. He was very abusive during their relationship and somewhat obsessed with her, or at least the idea of “payback” for things he perceived she wronged him. She installed security alarms in her home and took special precautions every time she walked out the door of her home. There was even an interim stalking protection order in place against the man, of which he was due in court the week following his death.

Mr. McCaskre was released from jail on a bail bond. He has asked the court to dismiss the charge against him. The 26-year-old man has a pregnant wife and is the father of two kids. Police continue to investigate the incident. McCrasre has a February 2022 court appearance scheduled.

Family of the victim called McCraskre a hero. A spokesman for the family issued a statement to media saying:

'The man who killed my sister is a demon. The man who killed him is a hero. He deserves a medal from the Queen. There is no way he should go through the justice system for what he did. He tried to help her and for my sister and our family he is a hero. If anything we want to thank him for what he did. The man responsible is called Leon. He was supposed to be in court last week for breaching a stalking order but didn't show up. He was a demon. He was a monster but the driver is a hero. He saw what was happening and tried to stop it. I want to say thank you again.'

A petition calling for Abraham’s release has gathered more than 55,000 signatures thus far. Won’t you add your name to the list? This is the link to the Change.org petition. Add your name.
