Man Who Removed Condom During Sex With Sex Worker Sentenced for Rape
The man was given 12-years in prison to think about his crime

Lee Hogben responds to an online ad offering escort service. He speaks with the escort and the two agree on a price and to meet at a hotel.
At the hotel, the two engage in sexual intercourse when suddenly, Hogben stops, removes the condom despite the objections of the escort, reinserts his penis, and continues to have intercourse with the woman. She attempts to fight off Hogben and repeatedly tells him no.
Hogben threatens her as he rapes her.
The incident occurred on January 19, 2018, at the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth, Dorset, England.

No Unprotected Sex
In the advertisement, the escort specifically states that she does not engage in unprotected sex with any client.
Bt removing the condom, Hogden no longer had consent to penetrate the woman. She resisted intercourse without a condom.
The escort filed an incident report at the police station the day following the incident. Hogben was arrested and forensic tests taken from the victim matched his DNA.
Threats Made
When the escort victim went to the police, Hogben threatened her grandparents in a text message sent to the woman stating, “I’m going to have your head smashed in for what you’ve done to me. I’m gonna kill your grandparents.”
Hogben was found guilty of rape at his trial. During sentencing, Hogben threatened Judge Stephen Climie, who sentenced him to serve 12-years, saying, “I’m coming for you. You’ll get a shotgun in the face at night.”

The victim testified in court, saying, “Hogben went beyond what was consented to by removing the protection, which the complainant will say was a condition of intercourse.”
As the man continued to have sex with her unprotected, she begged him to stop, saying, “Please, no...Stop..Don’t do this!” As she attempted to free herself, Hogben threatened her, saying that he had been violent and hurt people before.
After two hours in the room with the escort, Hogben left without paying for services.
Hogben Convictions
The court convicted Hogben of two counts of assault and one count of rape. He has a lengthy criminal history with numerous convictions for multiple charges of harassment.

Hogben also pleaded guilty to disclosing private photographs, breaching a restraining order, threatening to destroy property, and making a malicious communication in relation to a second female victim in this case.
Hogben’s attorney, Nick Robinson, defended his client by saying that he was in a heightened emotional state when the incident occurred.
He said: 'His coping mechanism is driving, violence, abuse and talking to people the way he talks about himself and to himself.'
“Stealthing” is Illegal in the UK
Known as stealthing, this act occurs when an individual removes or severely damages a condom during sexual intercourse without the consent of the other party. Once the condom is removed, the original consent is revoked and intercourse then becomes rape.
Heavily Regulated, Prostitution is Legal in Great Britain
In Great Britain, including England, Scotland, and Wales, sex work is legal, though heavily regulated. Northern Ireland is the exception to the rule, having made paid sex illegal in 2015. When sex workers break regulations, police oftentimes turn a blind eye to the crimes.
