Kris Wu's scandal Has Shown Us How Out of Hand The Fan Culture Has Become
and here's how

When you trust someone whole heartedly, beleiving everything you see and hanging on every last one of their words, you have effectively given that person power over you. When fans trust their idol's endorsements and only use the products that they claim to use on a daily basis, you have given them power over your wallet. Putting a stranger in such a powerful postion over you because they are handsome, or they sing well is a horrible idea. Your so called idols do not know you, and most of them do not want to get to know you. For all you know, you could be supporting a child molester with all of that money you give him in sales.
When you give a man power, it goes to his head. You inflate his ego and he begins to prance around like one of the dancers from West Side Story. The only difference being, in the end he does not get stabbed or shot. We all know what happened with Jung Joon-young of the group Drug Restaurant and FT Island member Choi Jong-hoon. If you didn't hear, they were found guilty of gang raping women and distributing the sex tapes. If the women had not stepped forward, they would have continued living their daily pampered lives, because they know they can get away with almost anything.
That being said. Kris Wu, otherwise known as Kevin Li, and Wu Yi Fan, is a Canadian Chinese rapper. He rose to fame when he joined the Korean Idol group EXO, but later left to go to China and pursue a solo career as a rapper, model, actor, and producer. He acheived great success in China and currently has a networth of $9 million.

The news that Wu "repeatedly lured young women to have sexual relations” with him came out shortly after a series of social media posts by 19-year-old beauty influencer, Du Meizhu. Du, who was 17 at the time said she had thought she was meeting Wu for a career opportunity, but that his staff forced her to play drinking games and they had sex while she was drunk.
Du posted a detailed account of what happened, but it is very long. If you would like to read the whole thing translated, you can use this link below, otherwise, I am going to give the concise version.
According to Du and the texts that she provided, she found out that a lot of her "friends got invited over by you for the same reason…" and that he had "a WeChat account dedicated to seeking out underage girls." Apparently Wu has a set of standards, one being that "the girls have to be born in the 2000s or that they’re around the age when they have to take college entrance exams." Not only are these girls underage, but he dated them all at once over time, and when he got tired of one, he would ghost her.
Du’s claims prompted others to come forward with dozens of other allegations, including that he lured young women or girls into sexual relationships with career promises or lavish gifts. One girl in particular accounted that the day after they drank too much and had relations "he wanted me at the hotel again to keep him company. And I really thought I might be getting romantically involved with a celebrity. But I didn’t know if I should be scared or happy. It was a feeling that can’t be described." She said she never saw him after that and was left with a feeling of abandonment.
Wu's perversion doesn't end there. He also asked to see two of these underaged girls at the same time because they used to know one another.

Kris: “Do you two want to come together?”
Kris: “I just saw your feed, you two know each other”
Victim 4: “Ex-classmate”
Victim 4: “It seems like you know everyone”
Victim 4: [emojis]
Kris: “I also know”
Kris: [blurred out name]
Kris: “Hahahahaha”
Kris: “That’s your friend too”
It would seem like Wu just can't get enough of the ladies because not only did he cheat with girls all around the world, he also conducts himself around others that will allow him to sleep with more women. In the below picture, you will see an account of yet another way Wu picks girls.

C: “They’re all very rude”
C: “Let me tell you”
C: “Someone told me”
C: “They said they already knew Wu Yi Fan knows me”
C: “I asked how”
C: “He said you don’t know?”
C: “Before throwing a party together”
C: “They send all of the girls’ photos out” (this is two lines)
C: “And pick”
C: “Pick who they want to invite over for drinks that day”
Du Meizhu: “Like picking concubines?”
C: “Like picking concubines… Turning a sign over when a girl is selected”
*Info* In the old days kings would pick which one of their concubines they’d spend the night with by turning a sign over.
When Du's words made its impact on Wu and his career, she received a settlement agreement. In reference to that, she stated "Even though I just turned 19 years old and don’t have a lot of life experience, I still felt something was off after seeing so many terms of illegal actions, like “threaten”, in the agreement, so I immediately talked to a lawyer friend of mine. My friend said this agreement cannot be enforced in accordance with contractual law, but it is a “guilt admission document” for me. This is fraud and blackmail in the amount of 2,000,000 CNY and can result in more than 10 years of jail time."
So basically, Wu tried to trick Du into signing an admission of fraud and blackmail, which would cause her to get locked up.
On top of that "While chatting, he said due to tax issues, he transferred 3,000,000 CNY to me and asked me to transfer 1,000,000 CNY back to him. I was curious as to what kind of tax issues would cause such a problem, but someone who knows law said that having me transfer 1,000,000 CNY back is to provide proof that it was me who received the payment and that I own and control the account. That way, it can be proven that the transferee is me, and the fact that this is a big transfer can provide confirmation that I’m able to act consciously. Adding this to the existence of the agreement, it’s guaranteed that I would go to jail."
I bet you're thinking, good thing she didn't fall for it, right? Well it was too early to celebrate. She followed it up with saying "Also, someone told me that her friend made a claim after getting dumped by a certain someone and had an abortion" (due to an STD from Wu,) "and was happy after receiving money, but ended up going to prison shortly after. I’m getting more information on this case, and will reveal more about it later if possible."
You, of course are free to have your own opinions on the matter, but the way I see it, Kris Wu became a disgusting individual and those that helped him knowing what he did is even worse. I'm sure he was not born thinking the way he does and doing the things he did. It was power and influence that warped his soul.

So far it is thought that there are over 30 victims. After what happened, I have a huge amount of respect for Du. It takes a lot of courage and mental strenght to stand up like she did. Not to mention that she absolutely roasted the man. Her words had my jaw drop.
"Even if I’m not thinking about my career, do you think I’d actually tell you everything about those who you’ve hurt, tortured, got depression, attempted suicide, got an abortion, got an STD from you, and started losing their hair since their early 20s all because of you? I have a public platform to get the public to support me, but what about them? Let you toy with them?
Are you that full of confidence? What’s supporting your confidence? The fact that you have to take pills to get it up for sex? The fact that you have to say “I’m really big, bear with it” before you enter every time? The main question is, you actually say this to everyone, so is this a line that you knew how to say ever since you were born? Did you write a whole script with this line? When you wrote it, did you consider other people’s feelings? Sex ends after only 2 – 3 minutes, and you even ask, “How was it? I’m amazing, right?” Yes, you’re amazing, you’re really amazing. “Is mine big? My ex-girlfriends all say it’s big” Yours is big, it’s really big.
Do you know? When women love or think they love you, they are willing to lie to you and even lie to themselves. We all loved you or thought we loved you, so we lied in order to protect you. Do you know how that really feels? Probably, it’s the feeling like you want to pick your nose, and you wanted to use your finger, but you can only pick it with a toothpick. It’s a slow and painful process. You should change your name to Wu-Pick since you will never be able to use your name ever again."
She ended it all by showing she still had cards up her sleeve waiting and ready, and most importantly of all, she showed restraint. She did not needlessly give all of the other victim's information to the public to help the cause. This is beacuse as she says, she does not want them to go through the ridicule from the public, and the death threats from Wu's fans that she has to endure.

Wu denied the specific allegations on his Weibo account, addressing his 52 million followers. “There was no groupie sex! There was no underage! If there were this kind of thing, please everyone relax, I would put myself in jail!”
Whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was finally arrested. After all of the bad press, his sponsors, including Louis Vuitton, Porsche and Bulgari, cancelled contracts with him before the arrest. His wax figure was removed from Madame Tussaud’s, and rightfully so.
Wu's already sonic-the-hedgehog-speed fall from his pedestal only accelerated after his detention. His social media accounts, including his Weibo page that had over 51 million followers, were taken down overnight. His songs were also removed from music streaming sites. Not from Apple Music apparently. I don't think they got the memo, because you can still listen to his poorly put together music there.
Wu who once had the sauce now has the ugly jumpsuit that every other inmate is wearing. The only thing that made this whole ordeal even more pitiful is that his mom begged to have her son spared, and his father whom he hadn't seen since he was a toddler rushed in to try and help. His mom tried to transfer his property to herself so that he would not loose it all, however it failed. It broke my heart, but sometimes parents and fans alike need to let their most loved idols learn the hard way.

Wu's super fans are still negating the fact that he is a rapist on multiple levels even though five years ago, Wu faced similar accusations of him abusing his power to sleep with fans.
On TV host Ma We Wei even went as far as to say "Wu Yifan looks so good-looking, it should be an honor to sleep with him." Ma said it was "welfare" for the fans to sleep with Wu. Ma was only one of the few celbrities to defend Wu.

This is what abuse of power looks like. As we get older, we need to stop looking to others to, when in reality they are just as flawed as us. If anything the pressure of being an idol and the influence it comes with will change that person into something unrecognizable, and before the masses realize, if they ever do, it is already too late.
Let's let our artists be human just as we are and see them as the people they know themselves to be. No pedastals, no "I bought it right away without doing research because he said he uses it," and most of all, no more cyber bullying to "protect" those people.
I am actually still hoping that Wu Fan Fan (a nickname) did not commit those monstrosities. I will be doing an article on the other cases going on right now (China) in what looks to be a surge in #metoo activities.
Thank you for reading.
