I Was Stalked By A Cop

Don’t blame the “Florida woman”, blame the “Florida cop”.

My name is Tureygua Inaru. To protect myself, and prevent future acts of stalking, I won’t share many personal details about myself.

I was stalked by a Florida cop.

Specifically, a cop from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department. Yes, the same Osceola County Sheriff’s Department where the sheriff was just fired for reports of running an illegal gambling operation. But former Sheriff Marco Lopez’s criminal activity is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m here to tell you that the Florida cops have been oppressing the people and acting like an organized gang for years. This is my story, and I’m sure it’s just one of many.

A male cop from Osceola County, Florida stalked me and wrote a false police report about me a few years ago, which almost destroyed the lives of me and my family. Why he did it, I cannot say “beyond a shadow of a doubt”. But what I can tell you is that he wrote a false police report about me, where he claimed that I committed a horrific crime: attempted murder. Every aspect of his police report was a lie. He made false accusations about my family to provide a fake “motive”, he used fake “quotes”, he lied about my education and work history to make it seem as if I was uneducated and unemployed, he claimed that there were witnesses, undercover detectives, and even a false confession from me. None of it was true. But just because he was a police officer, a lot of people believed him, which caused me and my family massive legal trouble, led to us living in full blown fear and shame for years, and led to me being sexually trafficked for years in jail.

Some justice is finally being had in Osceola County in general now that Sheriff Marco Lopez is now former sheriff Marco Lopez, and he is facing criminal charges. But as someone who is still seeking justice myself, I am telling anyone who cares to look deeper. Don’t stop with Marco Lopez, there is much more going on here. If the top dog, the sheriff of the whole sheriff’s office is corrupt, what does that say about the rest of the officers who work there? How many false police reports have Florida cops written? Before automatically believing a news story, ask yourself who the person is that is being accused, and what the cops have to gain from falsely accusing that person and their family. Pro-tip: it always has to do with money, or sex and money. And remember that former sheriff Marco Lopez is not an outlier—I hate to say this, but my experience has taught me that most Florida cops are criminals, who use their badge not to “enforce the law”, but to rape and sexually traffick, and to get away with stealing from people and breaking the law, and the same is true with most Florida corrections officers and any other kind of government worker who works in “security”.

I hope anyone who is familiar with my story understands the importance of the truth, and of justice, and of standing up for yourself even when everyone is against you. As a woman of color, and as a member of a religious minority, there has been nothing scarier than having a stalker who is a white male cop. He intimidated me into silence for a long time, knowing that I stood no chance of defending myself or of being believed, and also knowing that even the people who knew he was lying would be too scared of him and the police, or not care enough about me, to help me. He not only stole financially from me and my family, but he took something even more valuable: my voice.

But now I’m taking it back.
