I killed her with Kindness

Kim’s chocolate Obsession

“Hey Lisa!” Mona cries out, “listen to this.” “Oh God” Lisa whispers to herself “are you reading the obituary on the paper again?!” she cries out. “Oh come on! This one is interesting, just listen” she replies, “Fine” Lisa responds as she rolls her eyes. Mona begins to read, “Kim’s Obituary, July 18, 2020. Kim was a very kind and loving person, she was young and full of life. Kim had many aspirations but she never expected to die so young, I would like to share with you the cause of death. It was Monday morning two days ago, Kim was very excited about her 30th birthday, she woke up at 7am very unusual for her, but she knew everyone would be happy to see her and wish her a happy birthday at work. Mainly though she was excited because she would finally receive her $1,000,000 trust fund money, after 30 years of patiently waiting, the day had finally arrived and she made sure everyone knew about it at work, now don’t get me wrong I might sound annoyed but I had nothing against her neither did anyone else at work. Let me give you some backstory though, when I say she made sure to let everyone know, she did not hold back, as a matter of fact she had a “trust fund party” at her house the week before and invited every single one of us. As we walked in to her home we each got a small bag with a “present” inside, I will never forget about 20 minutes before we left the party, she decided to announce she was leaving the company and she let us know her birthday would be her last day, oh man was she right about that! “I want a chocolate cake and a beautiful party, now that you guys know it will be my birthday and my last day of work” she happily announced. When I got home I opened my so called present, inside there was a small vanilla cupcake with a note that said, “ since I will be leaving, and I will never have to see your ugly face again, I just want to let you know you won’t be missed,” with it there was a card for a plastic surgeon in which she wrote, “for your face…you’re welcome!” I have to admit I was extremely upset, I called a few of my co-workers to see if anyone else got the same note, and indeed she made sure to write a personal note to everyone. After a glass of wine and many thoughts of what I was going to say to her the next day, I finally calmed down and came up with a plan. Surprise, surprise the next day Kim called out which was perfect as I needed to present my plan to everyone else at the office, after explaining what my plan was to the team they all agreed the most logical thing to do would be to kill her…with kindness of course, so we decided we would each buy her a chocolate cake on the day of her birthday; well you see we all knew how much Kim loooved chocolate and she wouldn’t be able to help herself, her obsession was so big she might just want to eat all of it all by herself. For the next few days she decided she was taking a few days off, and of course Monday morning she showed up extra early, of course we were all ready waiting for her. We are a team of 20 people and each one of us bought her a small chocolate cake with the writing Happy Birthday Kim on it. Oh she was ecstatic! By the end of the workday she had eaten at least 10 cakes, I don’t know how she did it, but she did. Naturally she was not feeling too well and so she cleaned out her desk and left without even saying good bye, by night time I received a call from one of my co-workers to give me the news that Kim was in a food coma… literally, I didn’t mean to laugh but I just thought it was the funniest thing I had ever heard, I mean who is that obssesed to eat 20 chocolate cakes in one day?! Well Kim was one of a kind I guess. I hope my story didn’t bore you as it is not so much an obituary but more of a lesson, if someone is mean, kill them with kindness and you will suceed. Yes I know this is a long one but it was too precious not to tell, in the end I didn’t know much about Kim and she didn’t know me very well either, I just knew she thought I was ugly and I knew she had a guilty pleasure. “Wow, that is crazy… can she go to jail for that?”Lisa asks, Mona replies “I don’t think so, she technically killed herself.”
