EXCLUSIVE: Reason First- NY Community Demands Justice After Black Man Beaten And Tased By Peekskill Police
Peekskill residents are rallying behind 42-year-old Damar Fields after video showed him being tased, kicked and struck by police during a Dec. 3 arrest at Riverfront Green Park.

What marks a man as potentially dangerous? What kind of force should be taken against such a figure? In the latest expression of police vs black man, A Peekskill, New York man was hit with a stun gun, kicked and verbally abused by an officer.
But what happened, objectively? Claims have arisen regarding the fact that Demar Fields had fully exposed his lover half. What would happen if this remained the truth?
By understanding the brittle connection between cops and black neighborhoods, it would give one pause to think about it. The representative for the family, Darrell Davis is speaking out on the grim video.
But shouldn’t Fields be glad he still has his life? He might have been killed in this case. Why is he not grateful he didn’t get unalived by the use of force brought against him?
No matter how the cop could have struck or sparked him, used offensive language, he didn’t go to the medical examiner in a body bag. The reality is that he may have been roughed up, but he went home alive.
Though community activist Davis is fiery and seriously concerned, it is a specific ideal that Fields is still breathing on his own.
For all the conflicts between blacks and police officers in America, there is a thread from situations like Rodney King to this incident that paint a story of police brutality. What it also shows is the fact both men lived. Thousands of black men have died at the hands of police officers. Fields should be glad that his life kept going despite the vicious attack against his body.
To not consider the possibility he initiated force against other citizens and the police would be subjective. To just jump to the conclusion that all cops are racist predators blood thirsty and ready to pounce on any black individual without regard is ridiculous.
It’s foolish to think about how police get together in packs just to rove about and hurt innocent blacks is ludicrous, as well.
In this particular instance, the police officer in question is being let go on paid administrative leave. The amount of paperwork to be done on this case may be mountainous. But is it all for the fact Fields didn’t lie dead in a ditch?
Because he is still alive, does that give credence to the idea that his life remained sacred? If anyone should be attacked by the police, it’s “comply or die” time. There should be no question of the force propagated against that individual. The sole role of the government is to protect individual rights. Its agencies in doing this are the military, law courts, and yes, the police.
If any of these institutions fails in its position to safeguard rights, the individuals in a specific case ought to be able to be reprimanded or dismissed depending on the situation.
Fields should be glad the family isn’t making funeral arrangements. He isn’t even seriously injured. Reportedly, he is a repeat offender who had run afoul of the law earlier this month.
What is to be done about people who break the law on more than one occasion? What is the designation for such behavior? With Fields free and out in the world, he is able to reap the benefits of life in America.
As of this writing, Fields faces charges of possession of a controlled substance, public lewdness, resisting arrest and obstruction of government administration.
As a homeless man in New York late autumn, having a place to sleep and eat may do him some good. He might have enough time to think about his problems with the law.
In a rally in his name over the weekend, people demanded justice for Fields. Why didn’t they beg for grace and mercy for the officer? These so-called believers in the theory of God are so quick to stamp their feet for justice but hardly do they wish mercy upon those that trespass against them.

In a world like what has transpired over the past several decades, it is apparent that there have been horrific tales of police rising up against innocents; this doesn’t seem like one of those cases.
