Light flooded the walk-up. It was like some mothership had come down and touched the osk floors of the residence. With papers in hand and scattered over the floor, Kim pinpointed the various data that corresponded with the crypto girls gone missing.

And then the best thoughts pertaining to her entire system, her book, the professorship, and all kinds of other information that she kept in her mind. Why was she doing this? No money was attached. Like she cared. No glory would be had. Again, her ability to give a damn about accolades and prestige flew out of the window in her mind.

This was a personal matter. She had failed to stop Brandon from killing those frat brothers. She felt that she could be of assistance just in her own private world. All wishes came to her mind in the sense that she wanted to deliver these girls to their families.

She wrote notes vigorously. Each of them corresponded with the training she had received. It was that sensation of things coming together. She felt a tingling under her scalp. Her brain organized and reorganized the elements of the case and took together the amounts of data.

The bits drove her. She looked at the profiles and noticed that they all were active and playing sports like tennis and golf. The people that populated these pages looked like they should be showing their faces. Their waif like appearances could mistake anyone into thinking they were runway models.

Kim’s phone rang. It was her mother.

“Mama. What’s up?”

“I just heard on the news that the body of one of those girls was found near the Brandywine.”

A glass shattered in Kim’s mind.

“Wow….Did they say the name and age?”

“Yes. Zao Zheng, 22.”

Goddamn, Kim thought to herself. She just noticed that she had messages on her phone confirming what her mother said.

“I swear this world is coming to an end,” Mama Gaston observed. “You just stop and fidget and there’s another investigation. I’m so glad you’re wrapped in this case. My heart troubles have all but been eliminated.”

Kim gritted her teeth. She wanted to tasge the a tion of actually solving this puzzle. She took seriously the fact that she had been destined for this. Then, she threw out the idea like an offal. She hung up the phone and returned to the papers. The digital sphere she bounced to for updstes.

To consider the facts meant she had to detail her storyline; she opted to show with the strength of an archeologist. An excavation process of the facts of reality drove Kim to complete her work for the night. She turned in.

Then, her phone rang. Yawquisha.

“I know you know. How many of them are there?”

“I don’t know. Dozens maybe. They play the guy and then end up dead. That’s what is happening. Every step they take echoes back to other killers who had similar methods. They dumped the body near bodies of water. They left little to no trace of evidence. All of them seemed methodicsl in their motives. Their moral fiber had wrenched out of ther souls with self-inflicted wounds. They were eventually caught and prosecuted. What differentiated this case from the others was the sheer volume of victims and possible victims.

How Kim kept together her sanity surprised even her. Her mind was a lantern unto her feet. She leaned to her own understanding and thought of the laptop and the printed pages. With a red pen, she made pages bleed. Any underlining, circling, and striking through, she employed techniques she thought of.
