A misfortant circumstance
There once was a woman down on her luck she lost pretty much everything. Only thing she had left was the last of her sanity and her children holding her together. She had gone through heartache so much she had no choice but to keep her guard up. She had been ghosted, unappreciated, abused physically, mentally and verbally. She had been impregnated and left, married and cheated on. She had given up on love. Tiana had worked jobs that paid her little to nothing for 2 weeks. She's wondered how she would pay her bills and feed her children. She's had to choose between birthday and Christmas gifts or putting food on the table and have lights in the house. Tiana felt like a horrible mother she was thankful her kids never had to see a man try to assault or touch her inappropriately. She tried as hard as she could to keep their innocence still intact by shielding them from the evil of the world. Sadly knew they would eventually need to see the world for what it was; unforgiving and cruel, but there were also wonderful parts that she wanted them to indulge in. This a story of a woman scorned by the world and how a little black book changed it all.

Present day
Tiana was working 2 part time jobs and a seasonal one it was Christmas eve 2015 in Chicago, Illinois. She had been trying to save all year long to buy her 7 1/2 year old and 1 1/2 year old something for Christmas even if it was small, but landlord was financially raping her with rent and she was behind still. Tiana couldn't catch a break she started to lose hope. It was 9:30 at night and Tiana was closing up at her second job about to get ready to go home and relieve the babysitter for the night. She was walking home still had 9 blocks to go before she could rest and love on her babies. She wasn't looking forward to payday because she knew all that she made was already gone. It was another Christmas that she couldn't buy gifts she was hanging her head low as she started to cry. She just turned on to central and roosevelt going west she was completely immersed in her thoughts sulking in her feelings when she came across this little black book that was laying next to a dumpster. She picked up and opened it hoping to find a name and address to return it to its rightful owner. After opening the cover and looking on the last page and realized there was no way of knowing who it belonged to. So she tucked it away in her purse and hurried home to look it over and possibly turn it into the police station the next morning after dropping the kids off to school and heading to work. Once home and babysitter relieved and paid with the tips she made that evening, she decided to tuck her kids into bed and read them a bedtime story. Tiana couldn't get that little black book off her mind. She went sit on the couch with the book and started to go through the pages, you can say curiosity really killed the cat in this case. As she was going through it she noticed it was filled with numbers, dates and coordinates, unsure of what to make of it she kept going through it. She got to a page that was folded, it had an address that she recognized and without thinking, realizing it was hers and it had a drawing of her downstairs basement. Fear shot through her body as the blood drained from her face. She grabbed a flashlight and followed the description of her basement to where I'm guessing something was left, but not knowing how long ago this was created. Once reached the bottom stair of the basement, she saw this random hole in the wall and flashed her light into it. As she got closer she found a suitcase, so she put it on the ground and slowly opened it up. As the the lid of the suitcase went up she saw what was stacks of $100 bills, she felt dizzy almost wanting to faint. It was $20,000 that had been inside her basement, but for who knows how long. She searched the whole suitcase looking for a clue; a hint of who had left this here, then she noticed a tear in the upper left lining of the lid and something white and bloodstained sticking out. The blood was starting to drain from her face as she peeled back the material, in there she found a blood stained handkerchief with the initials G.V.A. curious about the initials. Who could that be? She pushed the thought in the back of her mind and kept searching until she found an envelope.
It read To whomever finds this trust no one, the caution was written on the front; shall she dare take the challenge would her children be in danger, is someone still looking for this? She preceded with the utmost caution she was now in to deep.
The letter was dated October 16th, 1924; it stated if you are reading this I have passed on due to my injuries, the money you have come into possession of was stolen from a mob boss that had hired me to do a job. Instead of completing what I was hired for, I took the money and ran which had major consequences. I did not have the heart to do what was asked of me, I was hired to wipe out an entire family; men, women and children due to the head of household a man named Walter Michaels owing my boss money. I followed the man for days and on the final day before I had to carry out the job I had a change of heart. I watched this man work 80 hrs a week to put money aside that he borrowed and to feed his family, he lived in what most people would see as a shack it had 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and 5 small children the youngest less than a year; a wife, father and a sick mother. I started to think about my own family what would happen to them if I didn't do this? I didn't realize but I had been tailed the entire time, they knew everything about me and about my family and I guess when I didn't show up with results he sent out others to finish the job. I tried so hard to save them, but I was to late i made it to my front door only to see it was kicked open. My pregnant wife was shot in the head and stomach 6 times, I ran so fast up the stairs to my daughter and sons room only to find that the bastard hung my children. I had no time to grieve, I needed to save this mans family before his ended up like mine. I jumped in my car and ran every light and stop sign only to find I was to late again, the masacure I walked into was worse than my own. He had been tortured, bound to a chair and I'm guessing he had to watch what they did to his helpless family. They were killed execution style, their heads taken off one by one and placed on their laps while they were bound to chairs. The mother was shot in the chest 10 times. There was blood everywhere, Walter had lost limbs and had his heart cut out. All I could think was what have I done I danced with the devil, not realizing I was still being followed a shot came from the window hitting me in the stomach. I ran out the back door after grabbing Walter's keys off the wall I couldn't take my car. They chased me for several blocks but I managed to escape them and hid in the building. I stashed this money here hoping to help someone else even though it has cost so many lives, so if this finds you just know this family may still be around, they run everything here so trust no one. Take this money and leave the city or state, but let no one know what you found. Start a new life! I hope this finds the right person and just so you know what family to keep an eye out for I'll give you a last name DeLaurentis, but beware and spend it wisely.
Your friend from the grave,
Giovanni Vincent Acado
Tiana almost lost her balance after seeing the last name, it was the same as her landlord and owner of her restaurant job she needed to think logically. The next 2 days were impossible to focus, she has to know could it be possible so on her next day off she went to the closest library to do some research. She had went online and looked up all the events in the letter, she was shocked the murders were true they had horrified the communities in which they happened, it was a blood bath and none had been arrested. To this day no one was held accountable, she then put in her landlord's name and boss's name and she was right they were linked to the family suspected. Shear terror ran down her spine, she had to get out of dodge. She took Giovanni's words to heart called her mom, packed her bags and quit her job; if he was right they were still looking and she didn't want to find out. She and the kids left in the middle of the night, caught a plane went back to her mom in California and never looked back. She wondered though what would have happened to her had they found out she had evidence to put that family behind bars, instead she wanted no one to know and only to give her kids a better life and now she finally could.
