To Stay Happy
The Things That Raise My Spirits to Keep The Bad Things At Bay

Introduction
This is one of those things, a confession, that I write when I feel I have nothing to write about. I don’t like to be always writing poetry, although that would be much easier for me, but I always try to write on a different community platform, although there are usually many things that can inspire poetry as you know if you read my rhymes.
One of my issues is that I think I have some very mild autistic tendencies which were brought into focus when I watched Greg Davies’ “The Cleaner: Christmas Special” (link at end of this) which is basically I start to get annoyed when people don’t follow set rules as I always try to do. These are the sort of rules that are set for a reason like driving on the correct side of the road, obeying the law, and rules when you are part of a group.
Dealing With My Issues
I may see people seemingly ignoring rules, but then I say well maybe they don’t know about the rules, so I will contact them and make them aware, and I have been told where to go on a couple of occasions, so leave them to it.
I do always try to adhere to rules and guidelines and if I stray I am always happy to be corrected.
While these things cause me mental pressure, I always look for something to relieve that pressure and these are a few of the things that I do. This may not be for everyone but they work for me.
Raising My Spirits
Talking and chatting with friends gives me a huge boost, even when I should be concentrating on something else. A long chat makes me feel appreciated and I often learn things from what my friends have to say, though I know this does not work for everyone. At least four people I consider as very close friends seldom communicate more than a heart emoji when I share things with them, but I understand if my condition were magnified then that could be me.
I love writing positive poetry and that is usually a quick fix for me, although I will look at the clock and realise it has been two hours since I started writing that poem, but it is always worth it.
Writing this confessional is raising my spirits and as I write this there are ideas for new fictions (although I feel I am fairly rubbish at fiction due to my laconic style) that are coming together in my mind.
Music is another spirit raiser and I do have a huge collection at my disposal, and thanks to YouTube I can listen to almost everything I can think of while online, though as I write this I am listening to “Nebulous Dawn” by Tangerine Dream which I feel is very conducive to creativity though I think they had various mental stimulants when they created those sounds.
I do believe the weather can raise your spirits, but today is extremely grey so not so spirit raising, but I do intend to nip out for a walk and maybe see some of the local cats and share them with some of my close friends.
Conclusion
I know I probably should see someone about my state of mind but I do not feel it’s urgent, but maybe that is why I should see someone now rather than if things get worse. At the moment I am in a very good place, sharing my thoughts with friends and enjoying a little success on the Vocal Platform.
I have now lost count of the number of Facebook friends I have met since joining Vocal and some of them have become very close.
My friends and writing and the things I have mentioned keep me in a very good place and keep any bad things at bay.
Thank you all for being there for me and appreciating me.
The music is "Thank You" by Barclay James Harvest , I think you know why.

thank you for sharing, I definitely have times when I need happiness
I'm so happy that you have all these healthy ways to lift your spirits when you're down. I just tend to go to sleep, lol. It's like switching myself off and on again. We all have our own ways of dealing with stuff and I'm so glad you do as well!
Excellent perspective!! Yes, maintaining happiness is the best route. I learned something new, that there is a band named Tangerine Dream which I really must listen to now but I am so curious. Also, if you don't mind me saying so, you are not autistic (that's a communication disorder, as well as other things). I enjoy your writings so much, this rule thing or not. 🤗 đź¤
A very nice topic to to write about. I learn not to be affect by other people action. People will do what they want to do. I am glad you have a lot of friends and healthy hobbies in place, hugs. 🤗🥰
It's hard for me to explain exactly why, but this really meant a lot to me to read. It's comforting to know that other people go through similar lulls, to hear your compassion, and to read about the ways you lift your spirits. This piece is heartwarming and a very important reminder of all the ways we can add connection and happiness into our days. Thank you for writing and sharing this piece. ❤️
