The Uninvited Guest: A Love Triangle Story

Love is Real

By Rishi PrakashPublished 3 years ago 7 min read

Why did Sophia feel that Ronny was her husband, but still he loved Nyra? One day Sophia became very upset when Nyra suddenly came to her house.

My first meeting with Nyra happened about 6 months ago after I got married to Ronny. She came to school with her sister-in-law. I was the class teacher of her nephew Rohan who studies in the second grade.

"I am Nyra. Ronny and I studied together in college, and we were very good friends," her sister-in-law introduced her to me with a smile as she went to meet another teacher."

As soon as I heard her name, my mind went blank for a moment. I couldn't understand what to say next all of a sudden. She misunderstood my silence and said while leaving, "Be sure to bring Ronny home sometimes. Bye."

"I was startled seeing her leaving, and then I stuttered, 'I want to talk to you alone.'"

"Sure," she replied, and I got up from my chair and took her to a corner of the hall. Without wasting any time, I asked her directly, "Why didn't you marry Ronny?"

Why should I have married Ronny?" She asked, smiling."

"Because you both loved each other. So what if Ronny belonged to a different caste? You should have gone against your parents' wishes and married him."

‘‘Because he still holds your picture in his heart. Just because of the memories you share, I can never become the queen of his heart,’’ I was angry.

‘‘Are memories of me getting in the way of your love for Ronny?’’ She was taken aback.

‘‘Yes, besides the warmth of his love, he has given me everything,’’ I choked up despite not wanting to.

‘‘Ronny is doing something very wrong,’’ she said sympathetically, putting her hand on my shoulder.

‘‘Why did you listen to your parents? If you loved each other, why didn't you get married?’’

After remaining silent for a while, she answered, "I will come to your home to answer these questions."

"No, it won't be appropriate for you to come to my home," I said, getting nervous.

"Are you afraid that if I start coming to your home, you will lose Ronny completely?" She asked.

As I remained silent in response, she lovingly patted my cheek and said, "From today on, consider me your elder sister. I will never harm you."

"Did you and Ronny meet often?"

"I will answer all your questions when I come to your house next time."

"When will you come?"

"Soon," she shook my hand and walked towards her sister-in-law.

When I gave Ronny the news of the meeting with Nyra that evening, he asked the first question, "What do you think of Nyra’s personality?"

"You are getting angry for no reason. Well, she did love me at one time, but now there's nothing between us."

"I feel as if things weren't going well, but where have you forgotten her?" My mood was getting worse.

"Tell me honestly, can anyone forget such an amazing personality?" He sighed deeply.

"It seems like my service and dedication have no value in your eyes," I snapped.

"I'm telling you to listen to me clearly. I absolutely don't want her to start coming to my house." I was angry.

"The scent of envy is causing someone's heart to burn," he joked and left the room. I sulked for a long time.

Next Sunday around 11 am, Nyra suddenly arrived at our house with her two friends, Jackline and Nilasha. Both of them had also studied with Ronny in college. As soon as they arrived, the atmosphere of the house became cheerful, but I remained aloof.

"Ronny, no matter how much you praised her on the phone, Sophia is twice as beautiful and smart as her," I heard Jackline praise me, making Ronny happy.

"You hit the jackpot by finding such a good wife. Should we have a party to celebrate this?" I could see the admiration in Nilasha’s eyes for me as well.

"Sure, why not," Ronny replied immediately with joy.

"Do you remember our favorite sweets or have you forgotten them?" Nyra asked with great charm.

" I haven't forgotten anything," Ronny replied.

"So whose favorite sweet will you offer?" Nyra asked.

"Mine."

"Mine."

"No, mine."

"Oh, don't worry. I'll bring sweets for all three of you."

Ronny looked at me triumphantly as he heard Nyra praising him, "You haven't changed at all. You have such a big heart."

"I just go and came back," he said, immediately getting up to go to the market.

"Wait, we'll all go together in a little while. First, let's have a cup of coffee made by your sweetheart's hands," Nyra said, looking at me.

"I'll make the coffee right away, but don't forget to understand their preferences. Their sweetheart is someone else," I said, complaining and getting up to go to the kitchen.

"It seems like the ghost who used to ride on his head to love every girl in college still hasn't come down," Jackline’s comment made all three of them laugh.

Nyra held my hand and stopped me from going to the kitchen, saying, "We don't need to hurry to leave. We'll have coffee in a little while. Besides, if the girlfriends drink Ronny’s homemade coffee after a long time, how will it be?"

Ronny was ready to make coffee immediately. The three of them went to the kitchen. They didn't let me do any work there.

After a while, there was a lot of noise in the kitchen.

"Hey, don't put so much coffee!"

"Why are you putting sugar in it already?"

"How foolish you have become that you forgot how to make coffee. It seems Sophia doesn't make you do any work."

"Will you not make French fries today?"

"Leave the idea of French fries...we don't want to upset our stomach."

They were all teasing Ronny but their behavior was very friendly. Sometimes, I found it difficult to hold back my laughter.

After a while, we were all sitting in the drawing room enjoying coffee made by Ronny. The coffee was good, and everyone was praising his work. They were all in high spirits.

"Ronny, let's sing a nice song today," Nyra said, and the other two joined in to persuade him to sing.

"I haven't practiced. I won't be able to sing," Ronny tried to avoid singing.

"Sing for me," Nyra insisted with a smile, and the three of them were ready to sing. They started making a lot of noise in the room.

After a while, when Ronny sang Nyra’s favorite song, we all started laughing uncontrollably. He couldn't hit the right notes, and there was no rhythm to his singing. His voice was going here and there.

He kept stopping repeatedly, but the three of them kept urging him to finish the song. After the song ended, he jokingly said to me, "I was a good singer in my college days. After practicing for a few days, you'll see how well I can sing."

"Ronny was the most popular guy among girls in our college, Sophia."

"When he was always ready to spend unnecessarily on girls, then how could he not be popular?"

"I must have seen at least 20 of his movies."

"I have seen 50."

"I have seen more than 100."

"You were a special friend of his, weren't you?"

They laughed and reminisced about Ronny's old stories for a long time, and then suddenly Nyea said, "Let's go now. It's getting late. My son and husband must be ready for lunch."

"How can you leave like this? You haven't even eaten your favorite dessert yet," Ronny immediately stood up to go to the market.

"We'll have dessert some other time. For now, just bring us cold drinks," Nyra forced Ronny towards the kitchen.

When they left, Nyra solemnly said to me, "Why didn't I marry Ronny? Now quickly listen to the answer to my question, Sophia. You may have guessed from our behavior today that we never really understood Ronny beyond entertainment. He was like a good friend to simple, innocent girls, but the thought of marrying him never occurred to any of us."

"I used to just flirt with it, but when it got serious, I had to bring my mom in between. They are not ready at all to marry me off to a boy from a different caste, so I had to save my life by lying.

"Now listen to me carefully. If you want to play with it like we do, I'll tell you about one weak spot. It will do anything to stay special in others' eyes and say anything. Instead of being angry and upset about its manipulative behavior, you can get anything done by praising it falsely."

Due to Ronny's return, she could not say anything further. After drinking cold drinks, they all kissed my forehead one by one and left for their homes.

After they left, Ronny, widening his chest, asked me, "Are you feeling bad?"

"For what?" I asked, looking lovingly into his eyes.

"That there is still no dearth in my admirers."

"Not at all. You are so smart," I answered by putting my arms around him lovingly instead of getting angry like before. His face lit up with joy.

"Anyway, in today's date, all this means nothing to you," he said with an upside-down smile on his face. Seeing this, I was overjoyed and mentally thanked Nyra.
