The Unexpected Encounter.

One day, Alexandra was rushing through the crowded halls of the hospital, trying to make it to her next shift. But as she turned a corner, she nearly crashed into a young intern named Matthew.

"Whoa!" Matthew said, bracing himself for the impact. Alexandra felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment.

"I'm so sorry," she said, her voice a little shaky. "I should have been paying more attention."

Matthew smiled and waved away her apology. "It's alright. No harm done," he said.

Alexandra studied the young man in front of her. He was tall, with dark hair and kind eyes that seemed to sparkle when he smiled. She noticed he was wearing a lanyard with an ID badge that said he was an intern in the hospital's IT office.

After introducing himself, Matthew handed Alexandra a piece of paper with her username and password written on it.

"All the HIMS users use the same password," he explained, referring to the hospital's internal software.

"Oh, okay," Alexandra said, tucked the paper into her pocket. "I'll make sure to change my password later."

As she turned to go, Matthew stopped her. "Wait," he said shyly, pushing a strand of hair out of his face. "Do you want to grab a cup of coffee sometime, maybe?"

Surprised, Alexandra hesitated for a moment. She had grown fond of Matthew in their short exchange, but hadn't expected him to ask her out. But there was something in his eyes that made her say yes.

For the next few weeks, the two exchanged text messages and went on a few dates. During their time together, they slowly got to know each other better, learning about each other's hopes and dreams.

Then, one day, Matthew received a job offer from another hospital. Despite the fact that his feelings for Alexandra were growing stronger by the day, he decided to take it. It was a tough decision, but one he felt was necessary for his career.

The night before his departure, Matthew and Alexandra said their goodbyes. As she hugged him tightly, tears streaming down her face, Alexandra felt like her heart was being ripped in two.

They didn't exchange contact information – Matthew didn't want her to be held back by his own ambition – but he promised that one day, they would meet again.

Two years later, Matthew walked into the same hospital. He had applied for a new job and was surprised to see Alexandra waiting in the foyer - now a full-time nurse at the hospital.

When their eyes met, all the love and longing they had for each other suddenly rushed back. This unexpected encounter was a reminder of how special their connection was, no matter how long apart they had been.

He expected Alexandra to be shocked, or even angry, but instead she smiled and stepped closer to him. "I've been wanting to hear that for a long time too," she said softly, blushing. "I love you too."

Matthew was overjoyed. Even though it was against hospital policy and might get them both in trouble, he immediately pulled Alexandra into a hug, and they stayed that way for what felt like an eternity. Matthew finally understood that true love was worth the risk, and he couldn't be happier.
