The Morning I flew with the Geese
Things that can happen when out in the park early in the morning is awesome.
It is a sunny morning and I worked at the Post Office on the graveyard shift. I was into physical fitness, I played basketball and would jog and run two to three times a week after work. So the air was clean and crisp. the sky was blue and there was a lake. The track around the lake was teaming with squirrels, ducks, geese, people walking their dogs and just taking walks. The asphalt track around the lake was smooth and the view was so nice.
The Denver Zoo was across the street and in the early mornings when i would run, I could hear the Lions and Tigers roaring. I could even hear birds and all kinds of wild noises. I remember saying," to myself that if one of those big cats got free that they would have a hard time catching me, because I would really run fast to safety somewhere or dive in the lake to swim and get away to the other side.
I really liked to go and watch the sun rise and pray to the creator the first thing in the morning. It inspired my day. Then I would start running and it felt so good the wind on my face and the power I felt while running was awesome. Sometimes i would experience a crazy mean squirrel that would come and growl at me. This was kind of scary. Imagine a little quick squirrel running up growling at you. I would just run really fast when i would run in the vicinity of where that crazy squirrels territory was.
I felt I could run so fast that if I fell down while running i would just roll and keep rolling. After I ran around the lake two times or three times I would just walk to cool down and feel my blood circulating around my body. It felt so invigorating. And breathing in all the oxygen and exhaling all the negative energy out of my body.
My next move would be to go to a gym and lift some weights where some of the fellows were at and get a good workout for my muscles. I did all this so that I could be better at playing basketball. The sport of basketball you have to be fast and be able to jump high. Not only that you have to be able to shot and make a basket from anywhere and by any means. you have to be able to compete and it is not easy when you there are others that run fast and jump high to. I felt that i had the edge because , I would go running in the early mornings after I would get off work. I would run two to three times a week a total of 5 to 6 miles a week. This was my routine and I enjoyed it because, I felt it worked for me to make me a better basketball player and it helped my body to be healthier. I have diabetes so in the long run it would be better for my health as I aged. Those were the good old days.
I would stretch real good and sometimes it would snow and i would run anyway. I would put my hood over my head and wear a pair of gloves. It was really fun to run in all types of weather except rain that was no fun. Well on this particular beautiful day I sat out to run and felt really strong and fast. I ran around the lake once and the second time i noticed a big school of geese, really big geese about sixty of them. I decided that the were in my way so i was going to run right in the midst of them and they were not going to get away from me. Running right in their midst they, started running the same direction I was running in. They began to fly, and I found myself right in the middle of the all of them. Their wings were all around me. Their feet were in my face it seemed so I grabbed them and held on. I could feel the power of their wings as the flapped and with each flap they took me higher and higher. It was amazing. These geese all around me and we were flying. Reality hit me and I got scarred of what would happen if I did not let go of them and what would happen to me if I got to high in the sky with them. I could fall and really hurt myself even die.
So letting go of their feet i fell to earth maybe about fifteen feet and I felt amazing and so blessed to have experienced this once in a life time event. I knew no one would believe me and I praised the most high that I got to experience it, even though no one would believe me when I tell what happened to me this day.
When I got to work that evening i told a few people and they laughed , asking what kind of weed was I smoking laughing saying there he goes flying with the geese high in the sky. Oh well if only someone was there to film it or take a picture it would of made me famous.
