Merlot and Morality
I haven't been in a bar alone in a long time. Who am I kidding? I have never been in a bar alone. I am not even sure what to order. I just saw a movie about wine, and it seems that Merlot was mentioned, but I don't think it was mentioned as THE wine to order. I am sure red is appropriate, and since Merlot is the only name I can remember and can pronounce correctly. Merlot it is.

Goddess Of Beauty
The loft on 5th is so cozy says Martha, “I mean I guess”, says Darla, “but how are you ever gonna meet someone there, everyone always has their head down and it’s so quiet, readers and writers blah, it's so unusual to have a place where people go read, study, write or whatever and serves alcohol also”. All the while a girl who uses their imagination to the fullest has always intrigued Martha, while Darla goes on and on about the loft and what she thinks I really want out of a man. Darla doesn't know about me, she keeps pushing for me to find a man. That’s not what I want, I truly long for a woman who curls up with a good book and a nice drink and I just know I’m going to find her.

One Glass of Merlot
I’ll move the glass of merlot again, just a little bit closer to the edge of the table, in case Derek can’t see it. I am sitting at a small table for two in a quaint French bistro in Manhattan. I find myself fidgeting in my seat, waiting for my date. I met Derek in an online wine discussion forum. For six months we have chatted, first on the group page and then through text. We discussed our love of wine, food, and travel. Last week while we were talking, we discovered we were both single and only lived two hours from one another. It had been Derek’s idea to meet, and I had gladly accepted. The more we talked, the more I realized how much we had in common, until now, that is…

Unintended Consequences of Covid-19
I am a bit of a geek. This is something that I have always known about myself. In March 2007, I started dabbling in virtual worlds. I ran a nightclub, bought and sold land, made things. I did many of the usual things people who inhabit virtual worlds do. I had a group of friends from those early years that endured, for the most part. Although much like real life, some disappeared never to be seen again. Sometimes you had disagreements with people. Virtual living is just living, after all.

"I Know What I Saw..."
We got to the club around ten and did our usual, chasin’ the women and all that, but we kept drinkin’ for a while. Check it out, there were these chicks sittin’ in a lounge area and there was this one that had these big-ass—she had large breasts. I asked her to dance and we had danced together a good while when she invited me to her place. She was fine, too, well, in the club anyway.”

Dream Date
Dream Date “Must wear white” or that’s what stood out about the article. It said that a celebrity wore white for months to subliminally have her man think of her in a wedding dress. My apartment was scattered with the latest magazine issues; “Single and Ready to Mingle”, “Always a Bridesmaid? How to walk down your own aisle”, and my personal favorite; “Ripe and Ready to be picked!” Based on everyone else’s standards, I was pass my prime, thirty-five, single, never married, and no kids. I had nowhere to go but up.

Friday Flash – First Date
Friday Flash – First Date Apri 1 2021 7:07pm. I’m sitting at the table near the window. us Parker to book a table with such a lovely view. The first time I read his profile on Match, I knew he would be a man of taste. I can look out into the landscaped garden to my left, and if I look to my right I can see the door. I wonder if this was Parker’s intention, to sit here and watch me make my entrance. Of course, Parker would need to be here first, and he’s not. Still, he’s only seven minutes late. He couldn’t have known I’d be early due to nerves. He’s probably parking the car right now.
