Childhood
Her Quote, My Journey
Today’s was one of those cold winter mornings when the air seems to be cold and everything seems to be a little more still than it was the day before. We were at our usual table in the canteen having tea with biscuits in between while chatting with friends. We enjoyed the warmth of the tea after coming from the cold, the sound of plates slapping each other joined the faint murmurs that filled the air.

Harmattan Morning: Surviving Boarding School During "African Winter" . Content Warning.
When I think of boarding school, so many memories flood my head. I remember what it was like in jss1. I remember every single emotion. I remember the smell, I remember the sounds. The first time I slept without dreaming was in boarding school. And now I can't sleep for a month straight without dreaming about boarding school. I guess this is what bullying does to the mind of an adult. I am not a psychologist, I know not the accurate diagnosis. A nine year old, left in the cold world of boarding school. Trust me, that’s horror.

Getting "Initiated" As a Teenager. Content Warning.
The first time I heard about the word initiation was in primary school. When we were talking about some Nigerian horror movie we weren’t supposed to watch. The ones that had “cultists” who pillaged and plundered students in Universities. Or the ones that involved a coven of witches that took pleasure in switching wombs and tying husbands to spiritual wives.

When the Holidays Took an Eternity to Come
It’s hard to believe how fast the month of December has gone by! I can’t believe how fast this entire year has gone! It seems like not long ago, I was taking walks in the warm summer evening. September was just getting started and I was laughing at how early people were decorating for Halloween.

The Day I Learned It’s All Small Stuff
We sat on the knob of Mica peak, which was rocky and covered in quartz, and the iron gray clouds crushed down on us. We could see the mountain ranges of northeastern Washington and Idaho from our vantage point above the valley.

"Do Not Be Dismayed by the Pits Dug in Your Path"
"Do Not Be Dismayed by the Pits Dug in Your Path" Life is a journey filled with challenges and obstacles. There are moments when we face humiliation, our hard work is underestimated, or we encounter metaphorical "pits" in our path that threaten to pull us down. Such instances can be disheartening, making us question, "Why is this happening to me?" or "Should I endure more?" However, remember this: when someone digs a pit in your way, do not be upset. These very pits teach you how to leap higher and rise stronger.

Things I learnt from my recent setbacks
Things I learnt from my recent setbacks How I wish life were filled with glory and love, tales of how we succeed in every aspect of our life, emerging victorious in battles filled with animosity and sadness. Every mortal being experiences seasons of rise and fall, of light and dark, of pain and purpose, and defeat and victory.

The Surprising Reasons We Become What We Hate
For so many years, I kept telling myself, that I didn’t want to become like my biological mother. I had a list of things I didn’t want to do, behaviours I didn’t want to emulate, and values I wouldn’t accept. Despite my determination, I found myself falling into patterns that contradicted my own values. It felt strange, even disheartening, but I eventually realised that this phenomenon is not unique to me. It is a psychological reality of how the mind functions, and understanding it can lead to profound self-awareness.

Sunday Morning at Church
My cat told me not to go to Church this morning. I almost obeyed her. I was wondering if I could go to the bar on a Saturday night and then go to Church on a Sunday morning without feeling like a confounded hypocrite. I defied my cat's advice and drove to church thinking about the song "Boondocks" by Little Big Town. "You get a line, I'll get a pole. We'll go fishing in the crawfish hole. Five-card poker on Saturday night. Church on Sunday morning." I'm glad I defied my cat and went to church. It's decorated so Christmas style and it lifts my spirits even if I'm a "black sheep" or even if I'm not an essential member of the church.

Unseen Threads: A Tale of True Friendship
In the heart of a bustling city, where skyscrapers reached for the heavens and the streets thrummed with life, two strangers collided one fateful morning. Emma, a free-spirited artist, clutched her sketchbook tightly as she dodged pedestrians in the crowded subway station. Sofia, a no-nonsense corporate lawyer, balanced a coffee cup in one hand and her briefcase in the other, moving with precision through the chaos.

The Struggles Behind Success: A Heartfelt Truth
The Struggles Behind Success: A Heartfelt Truth People are often drawn to the glamour of success. They admire the wealth you’ve accumulated, the recognition you’ve earned, and the prestige you now command. However, very few care to see the struggles, sacrifices, and relentless efforts that paved the way to your success.
