Reflections of a Walk. Top Story - September 2025.
When I was 15 years old, my mom decided to take me for a walk to have a deep talk with me. We went for a ride, down the country road we lived on and to the little store that also had a makeshift post office. Essentially, this was all that made up that little town called 'Culleoka,' (which means Sweet Water in Choctaw) where we lived for about a year in total. It was just before Fall, and she ended up stopping at this little cemetery called Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

The Lost Lunchbox: A Lesson in Honesty
The Lunchbox and the Lesson BY:Ubaid Sara, Umar, Imran, and Changez were all classmates in the same school. Though they studied together, their upbringing and behavior were quite different. Imran had been raised with discipline, good manners, and values. His parents had left no stone unturned in his training. Changez, on the other hand, had grown up spoiled. Because of constant pampering at home, he had developed a habit of ignoring advice, rejecting rules, and always following his own whims. He was stubborn, mischievous, and often careless about the consequences of his actions.

When Love Turns Blind
Every morning, the door of a narrow, dusty alley in Pakistan creaks open to reveal Razia Begum—a mother whose eyes no longer dream; they only wait. Her son, Faisal, was once her pride, the jewel among eight daughters. But love without guidance turned him into someone she barely recognizes today.

The Shoes I Couldn’t Throw Away
They sat in the corner of my closet, tucked behind a row of boots and dress shoes I never wore. Old sneakers, frayed at the edges, laces gray instead of white, and soles so thin they could barely hold together. Every time I tried to throw them out, I froze. My hand would linger on the torn fabric, my chest tightening as if I was about to give away more than just a pair of shoes.

The Loneliest Role: Being the Strong One
There’s an invisible weight that comes with being “the strong one.” It’s the role no one assigns you, but somehow, it becomes yours. Maybe it’s because you don’t easily cry in front of others, or because you’ve mastered the art of saying “I’m fine” when you’re breaking inside. Perhaps it’s because you’ve always been the one who steps up—holding families together, carrying friendships on your shoulders, and being the steady voice when everyone else is falling apart.

The Weight of a Confession
M Mehran Confessions rarely come easy. They are heavy things, sitting in the chest like stones, pressing down until breath itself feels borrowed. For Daniel Price, the weight had grown unbearable. For ten years, he carried a secret he swore he would never share, until the silence itself became louder than the truth.

The Truth of My Life
I never thought my life would turn out this way. If you had asked me years ago what I wanted, I would have said something simple: a peaceful home, steady work, people I could trust, and love that lasted. But the truth of my life is nothing like that dream. Instead, it has been a storm of secrets, heartbreaks, and betrayals that left me questioning everything I once believed in.

The Truth of My Life
There was a time when I believed life was simple. You worked hard, you loved honestly, and in return, life would reward you with stability, happiness, and peace. That’s what I thought. That’s what many of us think when we’re young. But the truth of my life is very different—messier, heavier, and far more complicated than I could have ever imagined.

The Story I Was Never Supposed to Tell
I was raised to believe that silence was safer than honesty. In my family, words were currency, and the wrong ones could bankrupt you. The rule was simple: never say too much, never reveal what happens behind closed doors, and never—under any circumstances—tell anyone the truth if it might embarrass the family. For years, I carried those rules like invisible weights, moving through life careful not to drop them.

The Little Light That Could
In a small town tucked between rolling hills and winding rivers, there lived a boy named Sami. He wasn’t the tallest, nor the strongest, nor the loudest in school, but he had something that set him apart—a spark of curiosity that refused to be dimmed. While other children chased games and toys, Sami found joy in observing the world around him, noticing the small details others overlooked.

Skin Deep
I wake in the dark, my skin damp against unfamiliar sheets. The ceiling above me is a smudge of shadow, indistinct, as if painted over by someone careless. My breathing is shallow, uneven, and the silence in the room feels so loud it buzzes. I reach for the comfort of orientation—something familiar, a lamp or a clock but my arms fall heavily, unsupported by any object. I am not at home.
