State Of Shock

I Did A Terrible Deed

Introduction

Today I decided to rearrange the workroom so that I could play my keyboard and guitar and have access to my CD collection. The move around was successful, and then I rearranged my CD boxes, and the one that ended up on top, which will provide a lot of my music over the next few weeks, contained artists from "I" to "L", which I had not dipped into for a very long time.

There were some nice surprises, especially the first two Kraftwerk albums, and I have included "Ruckzuck" from the first Kraftwerk album, which was the first Kraftwerk song that I ever heard. I got the albums as bootlegs when I was in Hungary, but then I discovered the absolutely shameful and awful thing that I had done.....

The "I" to "L" box

The Shameful Thing

Looking through the CDs, I was feeling good, and then I saw it...

How the hell had that happened?

People would never speak to me again.

If you follow me on Vocal or are a Facebook friend, you may want to unfollow me here and block me on Facebook.

This was shameful.

In my collection

There it was...

A Kid Rock CD

There I have said it

I have shared my shame...

I put it on my Discogs store, and maybe someone will pay money to take it off me and cleanse my collection.

I didn't know if I ever played it, I certainly won't play it ever again, and if it doesn't go soon, there is always the dustbin.

I have some music in my collection that may be of dubious quality. I have a Ted Nugent song on a compilation that I think is excellent. I first heard it when I saw the Rolling Stones at the first Knebworth Festival, and the DJ played it between band sets.

I was impressed, but when I heard the rest of Nugent's stuff, I was less than impressed. I remember him saying, "If it's too loud, you're too old", and then we found out he used earplugs at his gigs. A total hypocrite and, like Kid Rock, a Trump supporter, but I will share "Stranglehold" here, and it is a bit of a monster, but that's the only good record Nugent ever made:

So is this a confession, I suppose it is, but that Kid Rock thing is no longer part of my collection and I feel better about it.

As I write this, I am listening to "Damage Case" by Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, and he played reputedly the worst ever recorded guitar solo by anyone on "I Go Ape" by The Rockin' Vickers. It's not on the album, but I will share that atrocity with you as well:

You will know Lemmy from his time with Motörhead, so you almost certainly know "Ace Of Spades", but that and the revamp of their eponymous song are not on the collection, but I bought it as a 12" single when the band started on Chiswick Records, I believe

Conclusion

I don;t know whether this should go in "Beat", Confessions or "Humour", but I will close off with a few more bits from that box.

First up is "They" by Jem, this just sounds so different, so great vocal (not Vocal) gymnastics:

When I worked at The Freeman Hospital (where they treated by for Cancer), we got a DAB radio player and the first song we heard was "Been Caught Stealin'" by Jane's Addiction:

I really did not expect to write this, but finding a Kid Rock album in your collection is a bit of a shock.

Thank you for reading and putting up with me and hopefully you will still be my friend.

lol, Oh, no, whatever shall you do!! The shame ;)

  • I never heard of Kraftwerk. I enjoyed that. I put it on my instrumentals playlist. As for whoever bought that Kid Rock CD, that was an earlier version of you that doesn't exist anymore. You're older and wiser now. ⚡💙⚡
