Now Be Thankful
For Everything That Allows You To Be Here

Introduction
The inspiration for this was the Fairport Convention song, and while I feel we should be thankful for things in our lives, we should not just accept the bare minimum in things, but we should always be part of what makes things better for us.
Great Expectations
While I don't expect people to support me, I would be sad if no one did. I always try tosupport others, and I apply the biblical phrase
"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"
Or something like that, so don't be afraid to ask me for anything, but at some point, I would love some reciprocal action, though not if it is too difficult.
I am lucky that I get a lot of reads, though I love getting comments on my stories, and I always try to answer them. Sometimes I get so many that I just add a thank-you comment, which I suppose is a bit lazy.
I am grateful for being able to actually share my stories, poems and articles on this excellent platform, and now I am lucky enough to have a free years publishing, which means, in theory, I don't have to get 1,700 reads a month to keep in read-profit, but I will hopefully get back to those numbers, though today I am standing at 649, or 22 reads a day. Since the 23rd of November, my reads were generally between five and fifteen a day; now they are back to between forty and eighty a day, and the break-even figure is fifty-seven a day. Incidentally, I was born in 1957, so that is a coincidence.
We should all be grateful for our community and the support it gives, helping us believe in ourselves, and continually giving us encouragement. I know that other creators will read this and hopefully take something from this, as I hope with every piece that I write.
I am thankful that you have deemed to spend your time reading this, and while I know it is not poetry or fiction, I suppose it really is a confessional thank you to you all.
The Vocal community has enabled me to write and has been there for me when I have needed support and doubted my own abilities, and I still often feel like walking away, but I do love to write, so that also keeps me on Vocal.
I am thankful that the internet, or World Wide Web, enables us to talk to each other and be with each other, even if it is a bit like talking through a serving hatch. I remember in the 1960s, a landline call to Australia was ten pounds a minute. Today, we can do a video call that is included in our contract with our service provider, and we don't have to worry about how long we have been on the call. That, my friends, is one more thing that I am thankful for.
Then there is the fact that we have access to an online library where we can find the answer to almost every question that we can think of. If you don;t know, a web search, Wikipedia, or one of those AI tools will usually at least point you in the direction.
Conclusion
This has just been a confessional list of a few things in life that I am thankful for. I havelots of friends and family away from Vocal and Facebook, but these tools helped reconnect with friends from my teens, which I recorded here:
and here
So once again, thank you so much for the support you give me by reading this.
