Who remembers what toys they played with when they were a child? Well, I am a person that remembers most of the toys I had and played with as a child. My first toy that I really remember was a wooden dog that I pulled around by a string. What made me remember this one was because when you pulled it along the ears went back and forth. I saw this toy on eBay, and I bought it just for the good memories it brought me one day. The second toy well actually a collection of toys my mom and dad got me three Fisher-Price buildings (the house, the school, and the barn) to go along with a Ferris wheel building that a neighborhood man got me one summer. I would play with these for hours for I had the little people made of wood along with the furniture to put in the house, school furniture for the school that also had a chalkboard to actually write on, and fencing with horses, cows, sheep, and pigs to corral along with some troughs, so that the animals could drink.
More toys that I remember getting was a Slinky and boy did I have fun with that one for it did sound neat and watching in go down steps was fun and figuring out ways that it could be done with various heights of steps and all kinds of surfaces. Who remembers 'Romper Stompers' when they were younger. These were plastic walking toys with a plastic rope that you were to hold after you placed your feet on the base. They looked like upside-down flowerpots, and you lifted each foot as if you were marching.
Some more toys that I remember getting and playing with for hours at a time was a Lite Brite, Hot wheels with track, plastic soldiers and have all sorts of missions. One time I had the soldiers all the Hot Wheel tracks searching down the enemy, and sometimes I even had the Little People from my Fisher-Price toys as civilians. Even then I would come up with stories. Too bad I never wrote then down. By the way I still I have my Fisher-Price toys and maybe I will 'play' with them again but make up stories and this time write them down. I have even bought two other Fisher-Price buildings for I was watching my grandnephew play with them, but they wanted a new building, so I went on eBay and got the A-frame cottage and a western type building. What kind of stories do you think I could come up with and would this be a good idea or not?
Other toys that I remember playing with are what was known as Clackers that were just hard glass balls attached to rope and when you swung them around, they made clacking noises. They were dangerous, but also kind of fun. Dangerous for one could get the ropes around your neck or the balls would break. I also had a Pogo stick that I did get pretty good at, but I would not hop on a Pogo stick not at my advanced age. Pogo sticks are definitely for kids and teens only.
Some of these toys of the 60's and 70's are no longer around for the main reason they were unsafe like the Clackers. Other gifts that weren't really toys that I received were mainly books and coloring books and crayons. There was one other toy that I remember getting who remembers 'Colorforms' these were playsets that came in a box with a small pieces of plastic that were images of clothes, furniture and other items that fit into a certain environment from a house to a school or some place. I had one that was from the show 'Happy Days' and the scene was Arnold's where the gang hung out.
What kind of toys do you remember playing with as a child? I hope you share.

"I truly enjoyed reading your story—it brought back so many fond memories of my own childhood! I also played with simple yet cherished toys. I remember having pull-along toys, wooden blocks, and even a Slinky, which fascinated me as it moved down the stairs. Though we didn’t always have fancy toys, we made the most of what we had, and those moments were priceless. Your collection of Fisher-Price buildings sounds amazing, and it’s wonderful that you still treasure them. It’s incredible how toys can shape our creativity and leave lasting impressions. Thank you for sharing your story—it truly resonated with me!"
I’m not sure if it counts as a toy, but my sister and I spent countless hours on our trampoline when we were kids.
