DEVISING A SMALL BUSINESS as a fallback, alternate plan after college is not necessarily an easy task. All college studies and independent study projects, thesis and internship skills, and life skills included with the summarization of skills and contacts from prior employment blown by what society has to throw at us; we have a zero starting point.

A double major master's degree should never lead to cleaning house for others. No contacts to draw from for support or referrals. Ejected to the outside of any social groups normally within reach. Family casting blame and outcasting those not in the know about latent ongoing secrets.

Alternate income outs tried in rush assemble pattern:

Homeless Housing with funding from CDBG and Small Business Loan applied for with no response from the local loan officer. A plan presented to address homelessness of individuals and families with a scheduled assistance program that would allow a stable temporary address, assistance with acquiring resources for a temporary draft for income, education and employment; then sourcing a permanent stable address.

SOUP HOUND RESTAURANT as an off-campus resolve providing nourishing and tasty weekly soup, crusty artisan bread and salad.

SOUP LINE RESTAURANT in response to jobless/homeless population growth in the college campus area, a food line to complement a growing housing crisis. Feeding the homeless as a not-for-profit funded by donations and grant monies.

GARMENT REPAIRS on campus offered for one semester for student families in need

MIRANDA WRITES WORDPROCESSING freelance research and prepared documents for hire on my college campus and after college. Business plans and resume service.

M-WIBT (non-traditional women's support) ... to second as a part of 5 midwestern sections of support groups for women supporting their families by working untraditional jobs/careers aligned under the bureau of apprenticeship and journeyman certification and licensing. Michigan Women in Building Trades sprouted under Chicago Women in Trades and the Federal and State Departments of Labor.

LICENSED REAL ESTATE as a long sought-after goal after averting from pursuit of a journalism degree. License and baccalaureate degree in the college of business diverted as a result of displaced military orders altered schedule for start of college semester classes... License redirected to an erroneous individual not named on training or exams, a program and military benefits due to misplaced veteran education documentation... lost while in hand of student financial aid director during registration.

ESCORT SERVICE MANAGEMENT for out of town travelers new to an area with desire to do more than scheduled business trip. Escort provides familiarization excursions... "no hands on" policy.

LOCATOR SERVICE similar to a broker/dealer... sourcing items for out of country or new to industry or those too busy to find a needed item themselves for fee. To compensate time, communication and travel to and from vendor site for client.

BMC Contracting, Inc small asphalt and concrete flatwork construction company with 12 to 15 employees, 3 foremen/supervisors and 1 office personnel for bookkeeping/payroll and timekeeping. Accessing bid jobs, bid walk thru and end of year tax accounting.

MIRANDA MAID as a last ditch option buffered by military training with buffers and mop slinging; and a custodian position as a student, on the college campus through campus personnel office over one semester. Miranda Maids in tuxedo vest and bowtie with stirrup pant uniform for self and intended hire on workers. Identification cards, background screening, and bonding certificates. (I ended up developing an allergy to cleaning most supplies)

Getting through college and after college outside of academic training. So many outside routes tried. So many beyond the college training accomplished and the more of it sought after. So many routes tried beyond the inborn drive, inborn training, and inbred skill. Raised to want to be successful beyond a hand-me-out. Determination not to fall to the old ways for women... hand and knee floor scrubbing just to keep a "chin up" for pride sake. Not for fulfillment of a lazed husband's chastisement to "do it your-damned-self"... do it alone so long after he's gone. It is an inbred issue of independence... perhaps the reason a husband would leave.
