Freedom in Happiness
Stencil with Aerosol and Acrylic

I find freedom. In the process of collecting my aggression and frustration, processing it to the expression of choices I make while I produce something, relevant or irrelevant, the piece is simply the product of my identity. Creativity is a bridge to addressing the issue, capturing a feeling. In a state similar to what some refer to as “free-flowing” creative expression; swift, mindless cuts to a stencil and strokes of a brush. Still, with a balance of intricate and precise placement that I blame on a grip, that is usually choking my emotions. This is the basis.
I am often left situated in less fortunate scenarios, although I have it, not terrible, depression does not discriminate. Smaller issues are big for me. I have found in these moments, the only grasp of air I can whiff, is when I am alone with scissors and water stained newspaper clippings I acquired on a walk. A lot is going on, between the conflict in Pakistan, and the fear of freedom and love, almost appears to be disappearing in society. The only issues I deal with during these personal moments of productivity, is the lack of left handed support with cutting materials. Emptying my brain onto a project, regardless of the medium, is how I find my happiness in life. The moments of gathering everything at once, and creating, is what drives me to live.
I am not alone in this experience, and it is important we strive to find happiness, not only in ourselves, but also for strangers and our neighbors. Creativity and expression has opened that door for happiness and progressive discussion. It is of utmost importance that we help and lift each other to reach the process. Everyone is equally an artist, if more had the encouragement or push to experiment with it, the world would be a happier place.
It is starting to appear that my house is only filling with more unfinished art than finished. Partially because it is easier to be neutral about a piece, before creating a mental list of what is considered satisfactory, or incorrect, but rather because I am more in tune with the fast obsession of enacting on a journey of creativity and impulse behaviour that gives happiness, and to be fair, it is just easier on a clean canvas, or a new page in a diary.
It's important to teach and educate yourself on the proper tools and surroundings that fulfills happiness. Everything in life and between will impact you emotionally, and that is my job as an artist, to contribute to the background noise that can help enhance life around you. I find that the faster I can translate my thoughts to canvas, having the correct tools and items will only lead to a better end product, which will further lead to better fulfillment and confidence. It is unfortunate that a lot of society does not have access to the proper tools for expression, and I hope in the future, we strive for better education around the world, the youth is the most important generation.
Society should be colorful, cities should be covered with art, it is the forefront of expression and freedom. If you see someone lacking the confidence to start, or can’t seem to fumble out anything but “I am not an artist”, assure them that they are more talented than they think. It only takes a few good notions to change someone's entire life, to start a rolling ball, to establish the foundations of progression. We need happiness in order to lift society, to put people in better situations, to create homes and possibilities to achieve actual happiness in life. Art makes this possible.
