When they did, it was horrifying—her legs were spread wide, she had no clothing on, her pelvis was fractured, and blood was all over the place. Her eyeglasses were shattered and cracked. Suicide does not occur in that way!

Police have arrested a suspect, 33-year-old Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with unrestricted access to the hospital. Evidence including a broken Bluetooth earpiece and his contradictory statements have implicated him in the rape and murder. The suspect has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days, facing charges under Sections 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
