Dear Vocal
A letter of gratitude to the Vocal community

Imagine this: It’s February of 2022 and at my Wednesday night bible study a friend sparks up a conversation about how she’s interested in writing children’s stories online after learning that certain sites like Amazon are willing to pay you to do so. Me being an aspiring writer I was currently searching for an outlet where I could stretch my writing muscles and put them to credible use. So this made me get online and start searching for sites where I could get paid for my written work online and what did I end up finding? Vocal.media and ever since I first made this discovery my life as a writer has been an amazing journey.
When I first became a member of Vocal I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew is what I was hoping would happen. I was hoping that I would get to write a bunch of stories and articles that many would connect with and thanks to the Vocal community this goal has been achieved. The Vocal community has breathed so much new life in me that it’s ridiculous and I need you all to know how thankful I am for what you’ve done for me.
I’ve always been told that it’s important to keep an open mind and I do mahh my Evan effort to keep this in practice myself, but before I joined the Vocal community there were a lot of different forms of writing that I wasn’t interested in, but taking part in these Vocal challenges have made a change in me. Because of the community challenges I have not only learned to be good at writing different subjects as well as styles of poetry like Haikus, limericks, and acrostics among other subjects, but I’ve even learned to appreciate these writing styles and hope to one day publish written works of their backgrounds and the suggestions from Vocal are to thank for this.
One day a long time ago my older sister told me she thought I should write movie reviews like a movie critic because of how much I love movies. I specifically told her that I wasn’t interested in writing movie reviews as opposed to just writing the actual movies themselves. In my first couple of months on Vocal I decided to try my hand at movie reviews and started a series I call “Impact of a Legend” which is basically a retrospective series on films and franchises that I like. One of the earliest ones I wrote on the Friday the 13th film series actually became my first top story ever on Vocal and from there I had a newfound love for writing reviews.
That also leads into my next point. I don’t need to scream over a bullhorn about how much we as Vocal writers love making Top Story. I’m really thankful for Vocal granting us the awards of top story because this really helps our writing reach more people and achieve more reads. Of course that five dollar bonus is also appreciated, but in all seriousness it really does feel good to know that the work we put in is being noticed.
What I am most grateful for here at Vocal is of course my community of fellow writers. I really do appreciate how much we support each other and give each other necessary feedback and constructive criticism. The support really does let me know that I am on the right path as a writer and you all have given me life in that respect.
Dear Vocal community, thank you all for being an outlet for my artistic expression, thank you for supporting me and even being a source of light that I can turn on when times get dark. During this season of thanksgiving I am very grateful for my Vocal family.
~This letter of gratitude is dedicated to my fellow Vocal friends and creators: Rick Henry Christopher, Tiffany Gordon, Heather Hubler, Kelli Sheckler Amsden, Emily Marie Concannon, Call Me Les, Mariann Carroll, Mike Mikey Dred Singleton, Printique Studios, Dharrsheena Raja Segarran, The Invisible Writer, Holly Pheni, Gina C and so many more who have supported me as a member of this incredible writing community.
