A love to remember

Clara and Kaci were the best of friends. Growing up, they were inseparable, and the two of them held secrets that no one else knew. They were kindred spirits, always understanding the other intimately and never having to explain what the other one was thinking or feeling. The one thing they never talked about, was love. Neither one of them had ever had any experience in this area and certainly neither wanted to admit that they had any feelings for the other person. That all changed one summer night when they had gone out stargazing. As they lay on their backs in the grass, Clara looked over and noticed the way Kaci was looking at her. Suddenly all of their feelings that they had been trying to ignore came roaring to the surface. Kaci quickly grabbed her hand and started to confess her feelings, but Clara couldn't find any words . . . all she managed to do was kiss him. They spent the night talking and dreaming of a future together. Hearts on fire, they were so much in love and neither one of them could believe how good it felt. Before they knew it, the sun was rising. They kissed again as Kaci whispered words of love in Clara's ear before he quietly slipped away. Little did Clara know, Kaci had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer not long ago and he had been keeping it a secret. That night was the last night Kaci would ever see the light of sun, for he died a few days later. Clara was devastated, feeling robbed of the life she had only taste a few nights ago. She was heartbroken, but she remembered Kaci's last words echoing in her heart: 'Live with all the passion and love we shared' So she did. Clara tried her best to honor his memory and his love by living a fuller, more authentic life, full of love and joy. Every time she felt lonely and sad, she remembered him, because even if they didn't have much time together, the love they shared gave her the strength to live her best life and make her dreams come true.
