In a barren desert stood a rusted lighthouse — hundreds of miles from the nearest coast. It flickered every night at precisely 3:17 a.m.
An archaeologist who camped nearby reported hearing waves, and saw ghostly ships sailing across sand dunes.
When he climbed the tower, he found no light source — only a glass sphere filled with seawater. Inside floated a single, living fish.
It blinked. And the desert wind smelled briefly like salt.
