The climax: Martha climbed to the top of the lighthouse, reciting her grandfather’s incantations while the storm raged. Ghostly figures appeared, helping her maintain the balance. When the storm passed, the town was safe, but Martha understood she now bore the responsibility of guarding the lighthouse and its secret powers.
