During a late-night drive, Max stumbled upon a carnival illuminated by flickering lights but entirely silent. Curious, he wandered among the rides and tents, noticing performers who moved like puppets, never speaking, their eyes blank.
He discovered that the carnival fed on the attention and fears of visitors, trapping them in endless loops of their worst memories. Max realized that leaving required confronting his own fears: guilt over past mistakes and the loss of his younger sister.
The climax: Max faced the carnival master—a shadowy figure controlling the attractions—and by confronting his deepest regrets, he broke the carnival’s hold. The lights went out, the silence vanished, and Max found himself back on the empty highway, forever changed.
