Dear Diary,

I am excited for tomorrow! Tomorrow is September 1st and I will be arriving with my brother and Baron at Hogwarts. We are going to Hogwarts, where I will get sorted into Slytherin then I will make friends with a pure-blood. I will have more than one friend by the end of the year, and my dad will be proud of me for following the rules of who can be my friend. He has strict rules about it like I have to be friends with only pure-bloods so my mind doesn’t get tainted or something like that. My father says he has to check anyone who wants to be my friend to make sure they won’t tell my secret. It is ridiculous that I can’t tell more people, but I have to obey the rules, I guess.

Hogwarts will be fun as long as Baron and Helena are around to help me, which I bet they will be. They are the closest thing to a family that I have except you know my actual family. All I want is to meet new people so that I am not alone in life. My father even has rules on who I marry, which again is ridiculous. I have to marry a pure-blood who is sorted into Slytherin. What if I don’t like anybody like that? I guess I will have to figure that out later. My dad says all these rules are for my own good, but I know he just wants to keep the bloodline pure. I don’t understand why, we are all magical so what does it matter if our family line is pure.

Anyway back to Hogwarts which is the best place in the world. I loved staying there over the summer with my godparents. They would tell me and Helena stories before we went to bed. Those moments were my favorite because I got to learn about my past. Most of the stories were about my dad leaving the school because he was prejudiced. My favorite stories are the ones about the founders finding Hogwarts. Those are the most interesting ones. Playing with Helena is my favorite thing to do at Hogwarts, and now I can see her every day. I can’t believe that I am going to be with my best friend all year.

I will miss my family no doubt even though my home life is me in my room I still love them. My family loves me and all, but it is hard to find my parents' love. I see them every day at the end of the day, so I will miss them every day. At least, I will have my godparents, Helena, and Baron to keep me company. All my brother is going to do is tease me and make my life miserable, but I still love him. I will be surrounded by everyone I love and basically all the people I love the most are going to be in the same building.

Just the thought of September 1st the more excited I get to see everyone even though I have seen them already this summer. Godric is very brave and I can’t wait to talk to him. Helena and I are going to have fun hanging out around the castle and sneaking into the kitchen to snatch some food. We will hang out all day when we aren’t in our classes. I wonder if those older-year students are still there.

When I was 5-8 years old my parents left me at Hogwarts for half a year. There were two girls in those four years that would play with me after their classes. I don’t remember their names, but I bet they would probably be in their 7th year by now. They have to be there. Once I remember their names I can’t wait to talk to both of them. I remember one was a Slytherin and the other was a Gryffindor. They would watch both Helena and me, so my godparents could help their students. We would talk for hours and tell them stories, but I never told them about my parents. They were the best company besides Helena, and we played on the grounds of the castle. Man, that was fun!

Those two were the only reason I wanted to stay at Hogwarts for half a term. I wonder what it would be like to stay for a whole term. Maybe I will meet my future husband there, but I wouldn't know it right now. You never know who you are going to meet at Hogwarts. I know that most kids in Slytherin are going to think and idolize my father because that was how they were raised. If a Malfoy talks to me I am going to walk away from them quickly, because my father believes even though they follow him they are not true purebloods. They did business with muggles before the war and for some time after. That apparently makes them bad to talk to. I will obey his wishes even if they are ridiculous.

With this many rules, I will never have any friends but Helena. No one is going to have all the qualities he wants. Well, Baron has come over a lot and he is a great friend. I guess I have great friends already but if I do find someone else to be my friend I will make a friend.

Speaking of Baron, in the past week he has been over here many times. Not for my brother, but for me. To make sure I am ready, and how I feel about it all. He says I will be fine and that is true, but I knew that. I told him that I couldn’t wait to sneak into any house's common room with my passwords. I know what you are thinking, why do I have passwords to all the common rooms? My godfather gave them to me so I could go anywhere at Hogwarts when I stayed during the summer. That is how they lost me several times.

I just hope my first day is good and if I do meet Malfoy I will give her a compliment like a friend would. Helena is probably going to force me to show first years to their rooms after I settle in of course. I don’t blame her. I can get into any dormitory no problem and no one wants my brother helping them. Who would want Slytherin’s son showing a first-year Hufflepuff to his or her room? Jacob has a reputation of not being nice to muggle-borns. He got his reputation because of dad’s reputation. Jacob hates when people torture muggle-borns.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day meeting new people and all. I heard from Baron that everyone in Slytherin is nice to other Slytherins and those are the only people they are nice too. Maybe I will be different. You know I will be nice to everyone, that is just who I am. No one, not even my dad, can change the way I treat people. I treat people the way they should be treated and I don’t judge them by their blood status. You can’t judge people by who their parents are. Mr. Henry says my thinking is beyond my time. Well, diary wish me luck on my new adventures.

Sincerely,

Lily Slytherin
