Dear Diary,

I got a new journal today for my eleventh birthday. Yes, that is right I am going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry just like my brother who is going into his third year. He is upset because he thought he could get away from me for a little longer, but I will be going to Hogwarts and have the best room in the Slytherin Dormitory. This is going to be the best year ever. Baron said he will help me set up my room which made my brother mad so I agreed.

I am tired of keeping my secret from the world anymore. My dad is getting out of hand with this whole “No one can know that you are my daughter” thing. I get it you made a promise to everyone that you would stop having kids after having a son. I can’t help it that mom got pregnant which made him hide her away but to hide his own daughter now, that is something else. He acts like I don’t exist and when he does it is “my niece Lily from my sister who was in an accident that took her life.” This is supposed to be my background story for anyone who asks how I am related to Salazar Slytherin.

Now, I am stuck in my room with nothing to do but write which I don’t mind, but I want more time with my family. Right now, my Aunt is downstairs with my dad so I was told to stay in my room for fear of her recognizing that I look like my mother. This doesn’t seem right to be in my room while my brother can go anywhere. It is like this big S on my wrist means nothing to anyone and I feel so left out in everything. My brother loves to tease me because he knows I can’t run out of my room to tell our parents. I wish my parents would let me out more like maybe to go to the market. My punishments and rewards are being able to go outside which is ridiculous when you think about how other parents punish and reward their children.

My parents don’t understand what it feels like to be isolated from everyone because my dad is the middle child in a big family and my mom has lots of siblings. No one could understand what it feels like to be locked in your room forever every single day. The only way I am allowed out every day is when we go on an annual trip with Mr.Henry and his family. I always love those trips because Mr.Henry takes care of me and talks to me during the whole trip. We talk about how the Muggles aren’t so bad and that they don’t deserve the treatment we're giving them. No one should be killing these people just because they are not magical, but I can’t speak for my father and his beliefs.

My mom loves to come up to my room and talk so I don’t feel so alone. It never works though because she only comes up once and a while. I just wish that I didn’t have to keep secrets from everyone I know and love, but what daddy doesn’t know can’t hurt him. My friend knows which isn’t that much because I only have one friend Helena. I have known Helena since we were little because she is my Godmother’s daughter. Yes, my godparents are the other three founders of Hogwarts, the best wizarding school in Britain.

Speaking of godparents I have three weird ones but I live with it since they all live in the same place, Hogwarts. Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw (Helena’s mom), and Helga Hufflepuff are all my godparents which is cool because then I have three other people I can go to for help. They are great and all but I want to tell more people close to me about my secret so they can help me stand up to my father. Well, that will never happen as long as my dad has something to say about the situation.

Sincerely,

Lily Slytherin
