Part 1
"Tales of a Scorched Coffee Pot"
Everything was cool up until the summer that Liberty Avenue closed. More specifically the morning where it first occurred to many of them that maybe this company was no longer on the upswing. Their acting owner has just called a meeting, to announce the shuttering of their original location, which somehow endured in this town, in a beleaguered, not exactly great spot, from the late 1970s up until now. And also, oh yeah, that their president, Duane Hatley, who had received the news earlier than his employees, had just chosen to tender his resignation as well.

Chapter of My Life
Life on campus was a simple affair for someone like me, born into a modest family. Yet, within the humble surroundings of my dorm room, a fierce determination burned within me. It was a resolve to emulate the girl in the room next door – the one who seemed to effortlessly possess both beauty and intellect. However, my brain, it appeared, was an uncooperative partner in this endeavor. It would sulk whenever I attempted to study, displaying a stubborn streak that rejected my every effort. Whenever I tried to nourish it with knowledge, my thoughts wandered aimlessly, devoid of a true anchor. I found myself wondering aloud, "Must I search far and wide for contentment? Wouldn't a wealthy, reasonably attractive hero who accepts me as I am suffice?"

A Fair Cut
Happy Halloween dearest spirits from here and beyond! Welcome to my newest collection of flash stories, apparently a tradition I'm trying to cement for myself. Last year I completed a series called "The Wicked Carousel", one flash story a week at 1000 words or under. It was fun! And exhausting. So I thought I might just cool my heels in the black water pond this year, but when the wind whispers through white skeletal trees . . . you listen! So welcome to "Fright Feast", another collection that I'll be putting together as an anthology on this wondrous new community available to us. Hopefully I'll complete a story every two weeks.

Under the Florida Sun. Top Story - September 2023.
Prologue- June 23, 2014 A long time ago someone, history remembers as unknown said. "Under the Florida sun is the best place to be." I think they were right. Because there's no place, I'd rather be than sitting on the shores of Grasshopper Lake with my toes dancing in warm grains of sugar sand feeling lake water run up along my feet before circling around my ankles while my eyes look out across the ripples of water in front of me for gators breaking the surface like branches floating.

Breaking Horizon
Chapter 1: The Last Horizon Elliot McKenna was not, by any standard measure, a hero. He was a gruff and wrinkled man of 58, with hair receding faster than the glaciers he had once studied. An atmospheric scientist by training and an adventurer by compulsion, Elliot had spent the better years of his youth traveling to the Earth’s most uninhabitable zones. Now, confined to a chair in his drafty Boston apartment, he was left only with the company of his regrets and an old ham radio that crackled more than it spoke.

The Seer
I have one green eye and one brown eye. The green eye sees truth, but the brown eye sees much, much more. The green eye is easy to read. If someone is telling the truth, their aura will be white. A lie will turn their aura a deep red. An aura can also have a spectrum of shades depending on how deceitful a person is being. For example, an intentional omission would turn their aura a soft pink. A lie told for a good reason would be bright red.
