THE UNLIKELY SAVIOUR
Sleep. I was all too familiar with lounging on my human, John's bed and grabbing what, to him, was a much-needed shuteye. For all my laziness, I was loyal to a fault. Like every good canine, I tagged behind John wherever he went and would bare my teeth instantly if he came under any threat. Of course, John adored me for this and often paid tribute (in treats, of course) to our 7-year-friendship.

Chapter 4: Dinner with her friends Chapter 3 is linked here. When Robert entered the room the guy turned and looked at him for a few seconds, before smiling and walking to the door. At the door he stopped and turned to John, speaking softly in Chinese with what could be only described as malice in his eyes, before exiting the room. Robert didn’t understand what the guy said but, by the look in John’s eyes, he could see that it was obviously a threat of some kind.
