Something From the Roots Pt.2
You know how when you get this sick feeling that you shouldn't go somewhere you shouldn't be going but you go anyway? Well, I didn't listen to this "feeling of regret". If I would have just listened, I wouldn't have been caught up. But that day going to the woods to see the Pinkerton's cabin, something was out there, creeping, stalking, and looking. I don't know who or what it was. I just knew I had to find something to make good sense out of.

Chapter 4; The Library Chapter 1 is linked here Susan felt strangely unconfident as Jonathon reached out to take her hand. Fishkeeping in the Desert. Top Story - November 2023.
Yellow light becomes absorbed underwater at around thirty-five feet deep, but the air is golden and alive. It shimmers around tanks and walls, like a mirage in the desert. Vast and rolling mounds of sand stretch far and wide, with exclusive spots of unattainable soil. I work in one such spot of richness. This artificial oasis draws in parched crowds, thirsting for connection, community, escape. Thirsting for water.

Caught
Chapter 8: Won't Be A Bother "Follow my lead," I whisper to her. I stand up and straighten out my shirt. I turn to look at the guy that is practically obsessed with Haley. He's definitely not much to look at. You could tell he was a jock. He still looks like a douche. Short blond hair, brown eyes. Still wearing his letterman's jacket. You could tell it's seen better days. He was either a star quarterback, or he was a basketball point guard. Either way, he was typically still living in his "Glory Days' ' kind of guy.

Cold Beer and Hot Politics. Chapter 1.
The incessant ticking of the carriage clock on the mantel was the only sound breaking the oppressive silence that had settled on the flat. John sat motionless in his frayed armchair, staring blankly ahead as the clock hands etched their way towards half past ten. Thirty more minutes of wakeful consciousness remaining before he could seek respite in chemically-induced sleep.

The party
This is chapter two in the the story, " For the Love of Coffee." Chapter 1 is linked here. Chapter 2; The Party During the short walk to the boutique all Susan could think about was Jonathon Roland. The way he walked, the way he talked, his smile, his eyes, his clothes, everything about him fascinated her. She couldn’t remember any man that made her feel the way she felt in his presence. It was if the room was charged with electricity during their meeting.
